I've always preferred the original OFFERING version of "Ticket" over the re-recording on SINGLES. It's not as "produced" here, and I appreciate that about the early material. I get the strange feeling momma Agnes was complaining all during the broadcast: "Why is the camera on Karen so much? They should show Richard more! Do you see the way he plays piano? He arranged that song! Richard's a genius!" And when the kids got home, it was: "Karen, why didn't you tell them to spotlight your brother more?" Rest In Power, KC. You simply didn't stand a chance.

Just a thought. If Richard Carpenter was so exceptionally talented, why didn’t he still continue to make music after Karen died. Everyone in their family loved Richard and used Karen. They had her working almost until the day of her death.

Richard believes that no-one could ever replace Karen, or even come close to her unique voice as a singer. He did record some tracks with Dusty Springfield and Dionne Warwick in the mid-80s and has released 3 solo albums. (The last 2 being instrumental interpretations of Carpenters songs.) He also worked with the Japanese singer Akiko and produced and wrote 2 songs for her album in 1989. Mostly though he's focused on keeping the Carpenters legacy alive, as with the release of the hugely successful Royal Philharmonic Orchestra album in 2018.

Cześć! I think you're only half right. You can't say Richard was the favorite and Karen was Cinderella. We know nothing, neither you nor I, about mutual feelings in this family and in fact we should not be interested in it. In every family you can find a situation of deficit of feelings on someone's part and some lack of understanding. This even happens in the royal family. Karen devoted herself to music. Music was her life. In 1980 she could have taken a vacation. However, despite the suspension of the band's concerts and recordings due to her brother's illness/addiction, she decided to record a solo album rather than go on a long vacation. She had plans to record solo album and, despite her illness, was full of enthusiasm for work. And so it continued until her unexpected death. Music was her life. Nobody exploited her. Pozdrawiam!

Funny how the dude describes it's lip syncing versus pretending it was live.

It must be awkward for performers to lipsync when audiences members are 6 feet away from you lol. Richard and Karen were big Beatles fans which is why they recorded that cover
