Excellent video! I had my whole house recarpeted about a year ago. The doorway between my bedroom and bath transition. They reused the strip to transition as you have here. The carpet has pulled away from the strip. I'm wondering if I should pull the carpet and try to "rehook" to the strip? Thank you in advance😊

Yes, you can do that, you might put a piece of Tackstrip in front of it, so it will hold the carpet from coming back

I've watched about 3 videos so far from Floorsbysouthernboys. I must say, I'm impressed! I'm a CFI certified master installer and trainer. On a previous video I watched you add latex on a carpet to ceramic transition. You added latex to prevent the primary from separating from the secondary. I would only suggest you do the same for this transition. Otherwise I'm super impressed with your posts! Keep up the great work!

Rachel Reeves I don’t think so, if it is a tile or marble fireplace then yes I have videos showing how to work carpet to tile , If it is brick then you will work it just like it was a wall, if it is flush with the floor then you will use a Z bar to transition down

Super helpful! Thank You. If you were carpeting half of a room in basement is this the type of transition you would use where carpeted area meets the bare floor? I have installed tack strips at my 3 walls but where the open side carpet meets the unfinished concrete portion of the room I've held off installing the strips for the time being. I understand there's a height difference from the materials but I'm attempting this install for a first time and wonder if putting tack strips along a threshold transition where walking occurs is a mistake. Hope my question is clear. Your videos have been super helpful. Thanks again. P.S. Just saw your video on the Z-Bar where you did use a tack strip and fold over and under maybe that would work for this install.

Matt Smith You can take a hammer and tap down if you feel where the pens are with your fingers tap them down with a hammer do a few then look at it and see if you’re going to be OK with the way it looks because certain carpets it will leave dimples like John Travolta’s chin, so make sure you’re going to be OK with it before you do the whole strip

Do you ever have a issue where you can't hit the ends of a metal? Sometimes if im doing a bathroom metal and the door opens into the bathroom, it's hard to get the ends down. Sometimes I will lay my mallet on the metal and use a hammer to wack that. I suppose it would just be easier to take off the door at that point🤣🤣🤣

Matty Lee85 Yeah there you go I always remove the doors when installing it’s a very rare case if I do leave a particular door up there’s something going on out of the ordinary for me to do that and but you can take a scrap piece of carpet and put over the metal and just use your hammer to get it close if need be

Just put your tucker on the metal under the coner of the door and hit your tucker with a rubber mallet works everytime

Get rid of that nasty steel framing hammer and get yourself a nice wooden handled carpenters hammer. I can almost feel the vibrations going through my arm just watching you hammer lol! 🔨

thermal 15 No way what I ever get rid of this hammer I have had it so long it is literally wore to the shape of my hand and plus it’s an antivibe So I have never really noticed any vibrations from pounding, almost 100% of floors out here in Tucson is on concrete so I need a nice heavy hammer plus like I said I’ve had it for years it just feels good to me
