Great video. Regarding the Staples that you are using in the Roberts stapler, can you share the style and size of the staple? Perhaps an Amazon link. I'm just not sure I understand what's going into the carpet fold-over to secure it to the floor. Thank you.

Hi there. We bought a home that has white carpeting in the room that accesses the backyard so that entryway is always muddy because dogs. Is there an easy way to replace a section of carpeting by the door with laminate? Maybe a 4’ X 6’ section? Thank you.

Very helpful! In the second half, are your racks going straight into the concrete? Trying to DIY similar transitions, my vinyl floors are siting directly on top of the concrete slab so it would be too much height difference to add a tack strip

Any updates on how your diy transistions on concrete? Im doing transitions on concrete as well and looking for anything helpful
@Young_Star17 күн бұрын
What length staples are you using? For concrete, I assume you need a tack strip to staple into. The rooms I am transitioning to carpet were seemed with a different carpet that is being replaced with vinyl. The seem is right where I want to transition so I am hoping I can stretch it the 1" to make the fold-over.

Thx for the video! How do I add a tack strip to the doorway threshold (concrete floor), where it will meet the engineered flooring? Can I just glue the tack strip to the floor with construction adhesive? FYI have low pile carpet. TIA!!
@CarpetExpertBlueprint5 жыл бұрын
jmpaul330 thanks for connecting! Yes it can be glued and even better you can use 5/8 or 11/16 concrete nails to secure to the floor assuming the concrete is agreeable

What kind of staple gun do you use for the transitions, and where can you by the knee stretcher?

Right now we are using Roberts electric stapler you can get them on amazon for under $100 and the kickers you can get at any of the big box stores for $80ish

@CarpetExpertBlueprint is there a different way to get a similar result for someone who isn't comfortable using these tools or intimidated by them?
@dustinthomlinson38597 ай бұрын
@@jnfr-prz another option, and you would have to be much more exact with your cuts, is to cut the carpet just a 1/4" pass your laminate or wood flooring. Use an outdoor carpet adhesive and tuck the 1/4" under the lam flooring and on top of glue strip along concrete.i haven't actually done this but will be trying it out this week in a spot that carpet was cut short in a doorway.

So if your laying carpet in rooms before laminate just leave a little hanging out into the hallway?
@timmullin56232 жыл бұрын
Just had Laminate laid with molding and transistion strips. Carpet was laid a few weeks later and so far 5 people have stepped on the transistion area and has gotten a nail into their foot!? 3 Nails in my foot alone!! Being told my a Major Flooring company that this normal??? I have been walking on carpet and flooring for 45 years and have never had a nail from the tack strip puncture my foot or anyone else I know! Will they have to redo all the carpet to fix this properly?

What if the floor was concrete slab how to nail carpet to the floor at this laminate to carpet transition?
@Thomas-vq1ox4 жыл бұрын
Will this work with (floating) vinyl flooring? The thickness of the vinyl is only a few millimeters while the tack strip is 1/4" (I think). Would the vinyl flooring need to be raised above the ground? In your video it looks like your flooring is higher than the carpeting thus a need to use the tack strip to make the carpet meet the flooring. In my situation, I think the tack strip is higher than the vinyl.

Someone please show me how to install a laminate threshold transition to carpet, on concrete. The seller sent me with a t-molding, the plastic track, z-bar, and tack strip. no idea how to put it down. I can't even get a pro to come to my house to do it for me so it won't look like crap.

Feel sorry that you have to pay somewhere between $200-$300, IWe moved last year from WA, and I have figured out how to drop it down from $280 to $80 by doing improvement for my home.

Would you recommend this kind of transition for households with pets or where footwear is not worn? Seems like even if those laminate edges are covered by a bit of pile.. it isn't necessarily enough protection and could cause injury to lets say a dog that contacts the sharp edge or the foot of a child running from room to room.
