Driving Without a Thermostat. Is it a Good Idea?

2006 Toyota corolla ( 240,000 miles ) No air conditioner , no heater core ( bypassed with little 1/4 " glass lab tube. enjoy the beautiful color of added tracer ) , no thermostat , NO PROBLEM whatsoever , live in Florida and run 20 miles a day ! Direct switch to radiator to prevent overheating ! Many thanks for video , okay ?

I don't think this is true. I have been runing without a termostat in a hot climate country. When I have a termostat it always made a problem. Overheating.

Me too ..I always have good luck when I take the thermostat out .takes heater a little longer too work ..but what's ten minutes of my time..your. Right

That means you have a flow issue. Clogged radiator ect. Too low of flow with thermostat, back to reasonable flow without it. If it wasn't clogged it would flow too much and not allow enough time to cool the water in radiator.

Been running my car for 13 yrs w/o a thermostat. Never had an issue of over heating.

@@emilmar5466 I’m tempted to just get rid of it myself. Recently, I noticed there was a leak from the thermostat gasket so I went to the parts store and bought a new thermostat, next thing you know a car was overheating with the brand new thermostat. Like seriously?!? it was perfectly fine before that. My other car is starting to have an overheating issue as well.

Its not an issue of overheating because it does not correlate. The main reasons why is not advisable to run without it: 1. It will cause fuel inefficiency 2. It will cause engine parts trouble in the long run 3. It does not synch with the ECU, thus it can cause a mix-up issues in your car. Good for you that using it without it, your car is running good as you've told us. 😅

what state? wouldnt it be a problem if it gets to freezing cold?

If engine overheats while on journey take out Thermostat to prevent constant overheating.Replace with new when possible

I m planning to go on a long trip to Oklahoma and I m passing through Arizona, should I take out my thermostat? Because I know I will be crossing through the heat. I have a Chevy Silverado 2001 4.8

@@RubenGarcia-m4e yes remove it, never put anything in tjhere again.. if its too cold can put hot air to intake or , cover a little bit the radiator it will run like a chmap,, in racing engine we do that

Running without thermostat may be applicable to older cars. Modern cars operating with ECU controlled by sensors might have dire consequences

you can do everything if you know what your doing i recomend you contact a very good mechnic.

If you live in a region with hot summers remove it as it can cause engine failure if stuck

I have 20’ Infiniti q50.. recently I had a spew of coolant out of my reservoir tank. So when I drive, my coolant rises but only to a 50% level and back down to abt 35% stays in that range to. So I’m thinking it’s the thermostat.. I don’t think it’s the water pump but I’m not 100% mechanically inclined.

the concern as the video says is engine oil become thicken and may impaired engine lubrication. this is only applicable to cold weather country. but for me, living in equator country, weather temperature always hot, engine oil never thicken. and i have removed the thermostat for 2 years now, and in fact, my engine running better now.

any engine runs better a little bit cooler.. remove the termopstar there are severla tricks to rise a little bit the temperature,, if you thing its too cold specially in winter.

Had my toyota starlet running at 70-75C from 85-95. I changed my radiator to 2 row full aluminum. Im in Philippines.😅

Thanks for this comment. I have a 92 starlet gt. I ordered a new thermostat but it won't be here for a few weeks as I live in America and have to ship parts from Japan. Gonna take out my thermostat for a few weeks

My camry 2012 starts rattling noise when Coolant Temperature sensor is on. And when i switched it off the car runs in a perfect condition like a brand new car..can expert suggests what could be the fault.

Might be an issue with the water pump itself, they do break over time, it'd be my first check after the thermostat and related sensors

@@incoherentscreaming5011 Thanks for the useful insights.i would like to mention that i tried with my OBD scanner it only shows that P0017 sensor..i went to the computer shop they said the rattling noise is from crankshaft timing.

If you in a hot climate country PLEASE remove the thermostat. Thailand, Burma loas Indonesia Singapore Malaysia remove the thermostat

Im from india.. Here 90% Tata indica was Running in With out Termostat 😂😂😂... No issue - No repair - Super Good Mileage - ( Ac Condenser is Always in Cooling Condition So Ac Cooling is Superior Level Ac Compresser also Cut off Easyly and Regularly..!!!😂😂😂.. Note : Here Climate was 90% Hot - So We dont Need a Termostat. Must use Cooland only Never use Normal Water.. Thats All... Bye bye Take Care of Your Car

@@droman608 ahahahh remove terstat was the best thinbg i ddi in my life..just removed the interior of the termostar i let the exterior there so the hole is not too big.
