Could the thermostat be the problem on my 2015 Toyota Yaris? Only problem I noticed is heat extra hot when turned on heater inside car. It got really cold outside the night before. Seemed to run fine and didn't notice car overheating or any warning lights on. I remember it did this once before couple years ago and resolved itself

I wouldn't consider the heat out of your vents being hot a problem when it's cold outside. The only time the temperature out of your vents would indicate an engine issue is if you turn the heat on and it blows cold air. That means you're out of coolant. other than that, if you turn the heat on and you get hot air that's a good thing. If it's inconsistently hot, you might have some blockage in your heater core. it may need to be flushed.

While you have most of the antifreeze drained, might as well put in the good green antifreeze.

Why waste time etc testing a thermostat just replace it it's hardly an expensive piece of equipment,at least not here In the UK £13/ £16. 00 . weight that against how much your time is worth . best of luck a very interesting video.
