rear motor has only 7hp !! what do you expect ? mine in the RX has 40hp or more but it also sucks in Wintertime because they programmed it for reliability and so it may last forever but it doesnt push the 2,3ton ship enough !

That's super disappointing. I was looking at getting this car for commuting between MI and OH for work and school, and with our winters, I would need something that has AWD. Lexus touted this as a true AWD system when I spoke to the dealer and I had no idea about the system shutting off after a certain speed until recently. Seeing your snow videos, there's no way this could be an option for commuting. Thanks for the thorough review! Awesome car, but not for winters.

I have the UX250H (awd) and live in Chicago, we have had a few snow and icestorms here, no problem. Tires matter more than drivetrain.

At timestamp 3:32, is exactly what I experience all the time in my 2015 CT 200H with 4 snow tires over here in the US on the east coast. Were you able to get into the driveway? The video doesn't show what happened. I'm considering buying the 2020 UX 250H, but I wanted to know if you think it would be a good option for the snow? I love these cars, but I'm very concerned about the snow capability.

I live in Chicago and I own the F sport 250H (2019), no issues. I still run the factory run-flat (all season) and even with ice and snow I do just fine. It may be due to I'm a seasoned driver and have run various vehicles in the past with all assortments of tires. I too had a 2012 CT200h (f sport, with a lip kit and etc..), it did just fine in the snow, I never got stuck even in our polar vortex and blizzard that occurred a year or so back. In a nutshell, you will do just fine, tires make all the difference.

@@TofuProductionCinema I would tend to agree with what you're saying. I've done a few tests with my vehicle against another vehicle that has AWD and it was pretty disappointing. I'm inclined to say it's not the tires for my tests personally because I purchased the best snow tires I could find that weren't studded with a dedicated set of heavier rims. What I found in the few tests I've done is that most of the time the vehicle (CT200H) has trouble gripping the pavement. This makes me wonder if the weight distribution on the tires just isn't substantial enough overall. Being that I live in the east coast, I've lived with snow most of my life. I haven't owned a large number of vehicles, but I've had a few FWD vehicles that shined the most when it came to the winter. I almost always put dedicated snow tires on them. I put my CT200H on my driveway which is a decent paved inline. I couldn't tell you the grade. Maybe 15 or 20%? It's a fairly steep driveway. I stopped the vehicle in the middle of the driveway and tried to apply consistent, but slow throttle. Whether the traction control was on or off, didn't make any difference. The vehicle just spun the tires when there was barely any snow (not ice) on the ground. I had to back down the driveway completely and get a 15 mph running start to get up the driveway completely. I did the test again, but with an AWD Audi A3 Hatchback. I placed it in the same exact position and without any hesitation, it climbed the driveway without missing a beat. This vehicle I believe only has all-season tires. I repeated this test at least 3 or 4 times. I just couldn't believe how different the vehicles behaved. I understand AWD will usually make a big difference. I just never have tested it myself. Mmost of my concern is at 3:32. That type of snow is what really gets my vehicle stuck. I almost always get stuck if I don't have solid momentum. I remember one day I was pulling off the side of a residential street about a month ago to turn around. The shoulder of the road was dirt/soft mud. It was about let's say an inch or so lower then the main street (it could have been a little more). When I tried to get back onto the main street, my vehicle simply couldn't pull itself onto the road. The lip of the pavement looked so small, but my car wouldn't budge. I had to rock the vehicle a few times to get the momentum I needed before I was able to get out of the shoulder. This is what makes me most nervous about driving the CT200H. I love the car for what it's worth, but I was really expecting the AWD system of the UX to be a big improvement.

Lexus should keep CVT’s out of their vehicles like Acura does. People want premium/lux vehicles not boring, corner cutting CVT’s. It makes the vehicle seem cheap in my opinion

its not a shitty normal cvt...its a gear driven and its very very reliable and is part of their Hybrid system....without it it wont work ! My V6 Lexus Hybrid is very pleasant to drive even when floor the gaspedal...the V6 sound ...wow
