Had the car for a year from new now. It is comfortable and does not cause any problems The interior is a really nice place to be in and creates a very calm aura about the way you drive it. True, that the touchpad also takes some getting used to, but overall interacting with the car is really intuitive and relaxing. It's definitely not a performance machine, but it's not a old prius slow either. The steering feels really good compared to some ohter rivals, eaven maybe too precise for the nature of this car, but thats the thing bout it - it feels like it was made with care. Honestly I would go with a bit smaller than OEM size wheels for the sake of comfort side. You see, UX has a bit of an identity crisis, trying to be sporty'ish while it's not really necessary - but thats a problem with many modern cars in my opinion. All the comfort and safety creatures work really well. All in all a really nice vehicle to get around town, gentle to people on bikes in traffic and more versatile than a fully electric equivalent.The name really fits the car - the user experience is really good. We are happy with it.

"There are plenty of options that cost 10,000 less." But these options will not last you 300,000 - 500,000 kilometers with minimal maintenance. Those options start to fall apart after 25,000 kilometers. For example, American, French, Italian or German cars. So in the the end you will probably end up paying more than 10,000 dollars if you decide to keep the car for few years. Save your time and the headache and get a reliable Toyota/Lexus. The only cars left that are actually worth it.

It's a nice high riding urban runabout - decent space, AWD capability & small enough to parallel park . The Toyota derived e-CVT (I don't like that term because it isn't a CVT but people here won't get it otherwise) means it won't be a driver's choice, but if you live in a condo where electric car charging isn't an option, the UX250h is a decent choice. I kind of wished Lexus offered a turbo motor in this thing, but I felt Lexus deliberately left this out to move buyers up to NX300.

Going to testdrive the UX250h tomorrow I've seen a few in my apartment complex neighborhood and it has my attention. It's a great small city vehicle and with the roof-rack it looks awesome for extra cargo for roadtrips. The Rav4 hybrid is nice for that same price but gosh is it FAT, not to mention that horrible Hitler stache. Kudos to anyone who buys that for their family, us successful Xennials will stick to a subcompact that won't struggle finding parking, will be comfortable to drive, and will give me 400+ miles to a full tank for less than $40-50 👍.

I didn't mind this review at all, i really like the interior minus the stupid trackpad (it isn't a laptop). Your comparisons were great too, i often forget that mpg isn't everything in a dd when you factor in repair bills, space, looks, extra cost etc. It would be really cool to see their hybrid system implemented in a light hatch with a bit more pep, something that would compete with a fiesta st or something sporty and small like that.

Not many people want that segment despite price. The Rav4 is a Compact SUV bulky for the city. The Subcompact is for city dwellers with no family, not to mention the UX250h gets the same fuel economy as a Rav4 hybrid and it takes less to fill up the tank.

I too hated plastic cladding. But it serves a purpose on my Outback. Dragging the bumper on a washed out gravel road? No scratched paint. Ice and slush buildup in the winter? I’m actually considering the UX hybrid and the Rav4 as well. Way I’m looking at it is. Do I want more cargo or more luxury. I’m looking for a commuter vehicle for home to work daily driving. Includes some freeways for a trip of 30 minutes each way. I’m leaning towards the UX for the fact, as you mentioned the ride is nice and pretty quiet. I’m on a budget and will only spend so much per month. Hopefully I’ll be able to get a deal with the Lexus this month.

Gets between 40s to 110 mpg. But really prefer the SUV height. Though as mentioned in this video the UX does sit a little lower than traditional SUVs. And yes. Being a new model for the UX I agree being cautious. But Lexus / Toyota reliability seems very consistent.

SUV's need those plastic parts to not look as massive. Have you seen an X5 with those things painted? It's horrible. The plack plastic makes the car look thinner and less heavy between the arch and the hood/rear window line. The smaller ones though... It would be enough with a little black line like the newer BMW's have it. This is to much. Also looks like a Jeep, and that's a bad thing here.

I understand the UX250h. No other Toyota vehicle uses the New 2.0L Dynamic Force High Compression Engine (Toyota's version of Sky-Active with 14:1 Compression in Hybrid/Atkinson Cycle Form) as a Hybrid: Prius and Corolla Hybrids use the 1.8L version, and All others Hybrids (Camry, Venza, Avalon, RAV4, Highlander, and Sienna) use the 2.5L version of that engine. I don't understand the UX200, which has the same engine and drive train (K120 CVT with Launch Gear) of a Corolla SE trim line. The UX200 should have NEVER been. The 2.0L Dynamic Force engine and K120 Launch Gear CVT from the Corolla SE trim line should've been put into the Corolla-HighRider AKA C-HR. Toyota bean counters put an old Valvematic 2.0L in the C-HR instead. Fortunately, the K120 Launch Gear CVT is in the C-HR.
@leepower27173 жыл бұрын
The same 2 litre hybrid power train is available in the C - HR & Corolla in other parts of the world. The 2 litre hybrid in the Corolla has a decent 0 - 60 mph time of 7.6 seconds.

Strangely the UX250h is a parts bin special in exactly the right way for an enthusiast's "boring car". I drive 40,000 miles a year, 50/50 work and recreational road trips. I need a quiet cabin and stellar fuel economy. I need a naturally aspirated engine which doesn't pull timing when I run 87 octane. I want an amazing sound system. If I want to have fun, I'll get the stick roadster out of the garage or hop on my sportbike.

CVT's have one single purpose: To allow the engine to allways operate in it's most efficient rev range for optimum efficiency or power. Williams F1 tested a CVT in the 90's which was quote several seconds faster than their conventional F1 car. But when you implement fake gear ratios in it, all of that advantage disappear. It's LITERALLY useless!
@jomaha92275 жыл бұрын
If you've ever driven one that just hangs at a certain RPM as it accelerates you may have found it to be obnoxious to just have a constant engine noise/hum/drone. A large portion of customers complained, so they stopped doing that.
@torod2135 жыл бұрын
@@jomaha9227 Obviously I have driven a CVT. Yes it sounds weird, but people don't seem to complain about that with scooters, snowmobiles and ATV's and a lot of those use CVT's. It's just a matter of what you're used to. If all cars had used CVT's for decades, people would complain that gear ratios sound weird. Besides, like I said, if you're going to add fake gear ratios in a CVT because customers don't like how CVT's work, then DITCH THE FUCKING CVT. Like I said, at that point CVT's make zero sense.
