That was a brilliant video. I enjoy all your videos so much. Incredibly crazy prices for these dresses! I don't really know if I feel ok or not about the 'reference' to homeless people. I mean Galliano has always totally embraced the 'shock' value in his designs/collections. Fashion is often influenced by 'street style' and Galliano just interpreted that literally. The newspaper print walking down the runway, SJP walking down the streets of New York are like pages of newspapers blowing down the street...

I love this reference you made with the newspapers blowing down the streets! And I agree with you regarding his shock factor. Thanks for your comment

The newspaper print fabric was JG’s own signature for his own personal brand. Way much cheaper than his Dior’s! Even today you can find unworn JG brand with the newspaper print for good prices. I just don’t know which he had done first, the Dior newspaper or his own brand 😅

I think it must have been roughly at the same time for both. It’s funny because I always remembered Galliano for the print and only later I realised that he actually did it for Dior ☺️

Thank-you so much for this wonderfully researched and informative video. I remember watching the SATC episode in which this dress was featured. Seeing Carrie in this dress walking down the New York street after she leaves the restaurant, took my breath away. The way the fabric embraced her body and flowed in the wind as she moved is a memorable moment in the series, for me. Thanks for your brilliant analysis of this JG design!

I agree, this dress was just perfect. Even though it is a design which is now almost 25 years old, it still looks so fresh and modern. And the cut is just beautiful. Thanks for your comment!

Back in the day I didn’t follow fashion as I do now and always loved the newspaper print. I had a swimsuit that I loved and a couch, yes a couch 😂

A couch??? That’s next level! I hope you have pictures of it

Great video. The prices of the dresses, are they worth the money?. I guess it depends on the buyer, but there is probably someone who thinks the price is ok and buys the dresses, it's like an expensive painting , is it worth the money or not. Interesting story about Schiaparelli's inspiration from the wives of fishermen for her design. Have a nice day❤

Yeah, I think your comparison to art collectors makes a lot of sense. It probably depends on what certain people collect or what they appreciate. Thanks for sharing!
