Stephen King has said the movie for CARRIE made his career. Thank goodness because he's my favorite author. I reread CARRIE a few years ago and it held up well. Pretty seventies though. Ha. I'm a big fan. Wow. Didn't know Sissy Spacek did a version. That's awesome.

I have re-read Carrie mulitple times, it's one of my favorites. I even have a badly damaged, but loved copy I keep in my car. I need to get the audible version now. Looking forward to the rest of the Stephen King reviews. :)

I just finished this book. First time reading King. And I was completely blown away. The way he portrays bullying is absolutely brutal and it took me back to my middle school days of hell. It made me feel so uncomfortable and feel horrible. I loved this book. He NAILS how being constantly picked on can warp your sense of self. The crassness and vinom that she speaks about herself and the hatred she feels toward other people is REALLY relatable. When you're a kid you want the people fucking with you to die horrible and painful deaths because it feels like there is no escape and like it will be never ending. This is one of those books when I finished it I had put it down and look at the cover and really reflect and think of it all.

Just finished Carrie for the first time today. I’d give it a 7/10. Despite knowing from the beginning that she will cause utter destruction, I was feeling sorry for her every step of the way. Nice review and I’m glad to see that you’re a huge King fan. Next on my list of King is Salem’s Lot!

I’m just starting to dip my toes into reading and I just started reading Stephen king and decided to start with the body since my grandfather and I loved the movie Stand by me, I have now finished The body and The mist last month and plan on reading Carrie and Salems lot this month and I heard when he was writing Carrie that he threw the pages away and his wife pulled them out and read them and told him that she needed to know how the rest of the story ends

Carrie was my first, became an instant fan of Stephen King. But Carrie meant more when I learned that one of the students who inspired Carrie lived with Encephalitis as I do. A new way of looking at that pain.
