I climbed from gold 3 to diamond 5 by playing reaper loads last season. He's really great to play as if your game sense is on point. And even if it isn't, playing him will make you improve loads. You learn the importance of timing flanks, when to retreat and monitoring enemy cooldowns.

Are these principles of playing around your team more true because we're looking at the defender's perspective i.e. we are better off capitalising on the enemy being forced to rotate and take our space? Whereas for Push or on Attack, I would imagine you would benefit as Reaper going deeper, surviving and sort of creating space in almost like an Off-tanky way

It's context sensitive, but you don't generally want to go super deep on your own because it's often rather easy to punish you, and your team may not even be in a position to really benefit from your flank yet. Take Toronto, for example. Softer flanks like going through the stairway when your team is trying to cap close spawn are much more valuable - in general - than playing all the way back in their spawn around the mega room. As a flanker you want to try to position so that you can reliably fall back to a safe position. It isn't just about hard flanking and splitting focus, but also about controlling angles. Instead of going on the flank of a century, you might position to intercept the enemy team's flanker from attacking your backline, for example. If you position in a spot that allows for easy rotation between your backline while also being able to flank the enemy team, that's even better.

his role goes either two ways. if your team is going mostly Dive then yes you are going to go for flanks and aggressive plays. if you are playing a more normal comp then your ass should be glued alongside your tank and making sure to help them win the tank vs tank engagements which is where Reaper thrives. playing close to tank also keeps you relatively safe when your abilities are on cooldown

@@zacharyjackson1829 as a GM2 Reaper one trick, this. This is the best summary for Reaper. If we’re on dive, I’m diving in. If we’re on brawl or rush, my tank is my other half. If there’s a ball on the enemy team, I’m my back lines body guard.
