My question is can't any of those cars been restored instead of crushed? I hate seeing old cars being more depleted each year. I always wonder if they could be restored.
@djlau15 жыл бұрын
most car can b restored i resently seen a mother of 2 kids bring in a vw golf 4 who cant get her exoust pay after the inspection and had to give it the scrapyard while the golf 4 was beatyfull still but if it is been delated out of the goverment regestration then it not able to go back on the road sadly they super har with emisionsomes and most peeple are against it so it truely sad to c them go but carscrap yard workens offtem take oltimers home them selfs for free haha
@riverhuntingdon66597 жыл бұрын
FAR too slow, and the "metals" saved will be contaminated. This is why we now have magnetic brass, etc. The Picasso looked to be in decent shape bodily, no doubt failed the increasingly ridiculous "Emissions Test" in the EU. If they're REALLY concerned about the enviroment, the governments would encourage repair, rather than trashing everything considered "old"...Same as the Digital Switchover to Digital TV's a while back. Many good, working, and reliable, and let's be honest, better-made sets than the cheap and nasty China ones, were simply dumped.

At least 80% of the cars are possibly to repair, mostly even easily without great effort! The parts are often very low at price for older cars! They only end up here, because the cost of labour, because of the high taxes on labour, about 60-70%, if the labour was lower of the half it woud pay of to rapair the cars! I participated for 2 years in a pilot project of realy recycling these kind of cars, but when it became know and popular they had to close the project, because the car firms (garages) in the surrounding complained of loss of costumers and they called it unfair competition! I think it is the other way around, they makr it imposible to think and work in an other environment friendly way!

The greatest enviromental load lies not in the fuel the car uses during it's lifetime, but in the production in the car ietself! I think it was 1:2 or 1:3 or so, that means that the energie en materials needed for the production of the car is 2 or 3 times more than the pollution of the car during it's lifetime, because this is realy huge! Thinking of the winning of the ore, making it in clean metal, forming the metal, conserving the metal, transport in all it's stages and so many more foor the plastics, glass, etc. and the labour and energy consumed by the workers in the production, travle to the plant en at home, all are needed to build the car, truely a hugh amound of enery = pollution!
