No, the 400R's are legal to import because ALL of them are 1996 models, they became legal THIS year 2021

You guys can also finally import '97 AE111 Toyota Levin/Trueno BZ-R. A funky, cheap, and quick little sports car from Toyota with 4A-GE 20V making 164 HP and optional Super Strut Suspension.

The r34 has already started to disappear over to the states, they started about 2-3 years ago, they’re also about 8 times as expensive now, I’ve bought a few cars from a very reputable company JM Imports here in the north east of England, even they are finding it harder to find a worth while example of true 90’s JDM cars 😭

Yep. We had a tonne of JDM cars in Australia. Long gone is the days of getting a relatively low mileage R34 GTT Coupe Manual for $11000 (£6000)

From what I’ve heard, some people started getting importers to hold onto R34s for them about 5 years ago. I wouldn’t blame them tbh, if I had the money I’d do whatever I could to guarantee I have the best R34 I could find waiting for me the minute it becomes legal. The real problem is, since those cars aren’t allowed to be driven I seriously question how much abuse they’ll be able to handle after being dormant for that long

Soon after the Nissan 300ZXTT was cancelled in the USA, Japan's 300ZXTT (Z32 Fairlady TT) got a few improvements. Guys who always wanted a 300ZXTT might want one. I don't know exactly when the Z32 Fairlady TT got those improvements. I wanted a 300ZXTT when they came out, but my desires changed over time.

I think on top of the more imports you can bring into the states aslo it's another year vehicles in certain states that are 97 and older are no longer needing e check or state inspections. And aslo happy new years to all. Look forward to seeing a lot more nsx's running aside from mister wolf's car from pulp fiction.

Up to speed on audm falcon please, Ford Australia made their own engine called the barra straight 6 and it's on par with the RB and 2J, the fgx xr8 was incredible as well

Owned an Civic Type R and an FTO, AND had a VR5 as a company car, I really loved the VR5, I’m also glad I didn’t have to pay for the tyre bills on the VW! it’s a crying shame you’ve had to wait this long to get your hands on some legit versions. Makes my petrolhead heart cry. PS the London cab has an insanely small turning circle and it’s huge inside 😀

Literally. 2007 was JDM hey day. You could drive around Calgary and see 5-10 skylines on any given day. Those Nissan Pulsar AWD all over the place Cefiros. My first car I ever bought was a 91 Celsior on 19" Euroline wheels I bought for 2000$ Canadian with 1500$ shipping.

Noticed you didn't mention the "BARRA" when talking about the Ford Falcon, the Aussie made 4.0L inline 6 is capable of big power. Basically it's Australia's version of the 2JZ and RB32. That photo at 10:40 was taken in Australia, not Europe. You can tell by the Y62 Nissan Patrol in the background.

Being in England, your 25 year thing seems very odd as we have always been able to import whatever. What is the reason for it?

Mercedes USA was butt hurt people bought the German versions and imported them for cheaper than the USA version, so they and a group of other auto makers lobbied to ban car imports and set an arbitrary 25 year exclusion time frame, cause cars that old tended to be junk anyway.

Emissions and safety standards. In order to sell cars in the US they need to be crash tested, and if the manufacturer didn't intend to sell them here, they didn't crash test them here. Since they're not crash tested, they aren't road legal until they become old enough to be titled as "Historic", which comes with some other caveats such as only being allowed to be driven a certain number of miles per year. Similar stuff with emissions testing, but I'm less familiar with how that works.

All these cars I used to see back in the day in the U.K! Our Nissan dealerships even made a limited run of the Nissan skyline GT-R34’s but came with full black leather with the white and red GT-R logo embedded/stitched into the seats and looks sick…. Also the paj Evo is a sick Dakar winning champion 4x4 3.5 V6 N/A DOHC 24 VALVES with mivec and on paper is reported to have 276hp like the rest of THE JDM classics under the ‘GENTLEMANS AGREEMENT’ but is more like 300hp. I would love to own and turbo one of these legend 4x4’s!
