This is brilliant. Love the Rambox. Saves it flying around in the back or tub. Downsides, Australians want bigger cars, but our facilities are getting smaller. Westfield's carpark, garages only just fitting a normal dual cab (without bar work), new suburbs street are narrower now, etc. So, if I get one of these, I'll need a smaller car to drive in the city or do the groceries. There was an intention during the F-150's development to have it easily converted to RHD, but at the moment Ford is selling every LHD one they can make - with a waiting list that is now bordering on the ridiculous. Same with the new Bronco. And with most development resources devoted to electrification, there is simply no way Dearborn will approve any F-150 for Oz, regardless of how loudly Ford Oz begs.
@351tgv3 жыл бұрын
I don't see it ever happening direct from factory, the best we can hope is that Ford Australia partners with a local LHD to RHD converter (which is what this is it's not re-manufacturing anything other then the hard interior console and maybe the steering column), there was some speculation that Ford Australia was going to partner with Walkinshaw Automotive for the F150 and Maverick but (throws hands up with the air) it appears that is all it was, speculation. Nissan have capacity for the Titian to be made in factory RHD speciation from Tennessee but have elected not to do it for obviously economic reasons which is a shame as the V8 Titan would work here very well indeed, even better if they still had the Titan XD with "Cummins turbo diesel V8 power"
@351tgv3 жыл бұрын
@@arrowmouse - if the UK get the Electric F150 it would not need to be converted it would just need ADR compliance to be sold as new, that said there is the 3rd party manufacturer compliance (which is what Walkinshaw as do other 3rd party converters) but that is another story.

Toyota will never release the Tundra here in Australia as they make so much profit from Hilux sales which as you prob know are built in Thailand and are tiny. As long as people keep buying Hilux’s here in Australia we will never see the Tundra here. Its much cheaper & quicker for Toyota to ship Hilux’s from Thailand then to ship Tundra’s from their USA assembly factories. In future the new Hilux may get a similar look to the new Toyota Tacoma in the USA, but unfortunately while people in Australia keep buying Hilux’s we will never get anything better. Why would they change something thats making them so much money

@@user-qm5fn6hq6k I wouldn't be so certain on the never mate. The market is certainly growing in Oz, and considering they are all conversions (I agree with you on buying one of those) if it gets any bigger, if anyone manufacturer bites the bullet and makes a rhd in the factory they'll win the segment.
@user-qm5fn6hq6k3 жыл бұрын
@@paythepiper6283 I agree it would be great to see vehicles like the Tundra to come Aus. But its just not going to happen. Ford would have brought their F150’s to Australia years ago, but same situation. They just make so much money from Ford Rangers. So why would they. If they decide to produce RHD Tundra’s it would be a worldwide decision and it would be more based on markets like the UK. Australia is such a small market for global producers of vehicles. To convert a section of their assembly plants in the USA to produce RHD Tundra’s would cost a crazy amount of money and investment. Doing this just to ship RHD Tundra’s to Australia is not going to happen. Australia’s car sales compared to other nations are a drop in the ocean. It would need to be a global production market such as Ford has done to the RHD Mustang

Interesting review by Australian Expedition Vehicles "was posted by Australian Expedition Vehicles back in June .... "As an approved person engineer, AEV has been swamped with requests to provide a GVM upgrade post registration to RAM 1500 vehicles. It is not good news. These vehicles have a stated GVM and GCM from RAM. GVM= 3450kg GCM= 7237kg FRONT axle Max load= 1770kg REAR axle Max load=1770kg Total = 3540kg is the maximum that can be certified on these. Note the sales pitch has a 4500kg Max Brake Tow Capacity. Real towing is= 7237 - 3450 = 3787 kg At Kerb weight of these vehicles are 2605 kg. That's only measured with full tank of fuel and no driver. So with a 4000kg van with a ball weight at 10% = 400kg + driver plus full fuel, these are nearing overmass. Another known issue is the factory rims are only rated to 885kg (1950 lb), so restricts them from reaching their full axle mass. AEV has undertaken a full ADR 3505 for a 10% GVM upgrade to 3750kg ( which is for Vehicle Category NB1, medium goods vehicle) brake test on factory brakes and tyres. The vehicles failed the component test at full GVM for the 20 stops from 0 - 60 kmph. Brakes at 530° C. So please do your research on these vehicles. They are not suitable for a GVM upgrade of even 10%. Jmacx offroad solutions is working on a SSM GVM to 4200kg, but will require brake, rim and axle strengthening. Link to brochure from RAM Australia. www.ramtrucks.com.au/download-brochure/" I guess the lesson here is to make a detailed investigation and don't take the sales pitch as gospel"

City drivers are not the market for these utes. And yes it is a ute, not a truck. Kenworth, Scania...they make trucks. If I had the coin I would buy a 2500 in heart beat.

@ferdinandoarmeni63283 жыл бұрын
Rims bigger than 17 inches just make things harder for truck drivers that want to do truck things. You need the extra tire to get over obstacles and rough terrain. You're just asking for a slow leak or blow out with those big stupid wheels.
@chrisjohnson39123 жыл бұрын
The brakes are huge, so you need 18's to fit around them... but there are a ton of options there. Also, fitting 35's (285/75 R18) is easy with minimal modification.

So strange seeing these on Australian roads. Personally think they look ridiculous and out of place. They look like the type of car that would sit 10 minutes in the Mc Donald's drive through checking out their food instead of leaving for the next person. That's if it can even fit in a Mc Donald's drive through lmfao...

They're 80k in the U.S. yet we pay 60k more. If you're going to spend that kind of money ford f series trucks have more features, more engine configurations than ram. BTW Ford USA outsells ram by 3 to 1.

@@15harry1561 yeah true,. But some people who can afford like with big ranches or big boats will buy this kind of pick ups. In America even low income will buy F150 than a Hilux SR5 or ranger. Problem here is overpriced when they come. Import tax, conversion to right hand to left etc, which Australians dont want to pay. If we disregard the price I assume people will pick this bigger pick up.

Ah yes, how to keep the advertising revenue coming in, never say a bad thing about a customers vehicle. Further, at a time when traffic congestion is worse than ever, 75% of Australians live in urban centres of at least 100,000 people and we are trying to reduce each persons carbon footprint, someone decides to sell a small truck and make out its a practical urban substitute for a normal car? As a semi retired farmer who started to feel guilty when I drove my cab chassis BT50 to town solo, I just cant imagine who this vehicle is designed for? I can only suppose it’s for those who always wanted to play with trucks as a child and were not allowed to, or perhaps the grey nomad towing the ridiculously large caravan on the retirement crusade around Australia and who really wants to get in the way of truck drivers or maybe it’s for someone someone just compensating? Ironically, I am probably one of the very few in Australia who could justify owning this vehicle as I don’t live in a regional centre, carry large items and sometimes tow a large trailer. But I just can’t. The Ram is the answer to a question no one has asked, or even should.
@johncanalese5883 жыл бұрын
Apparently they sell every vehicle they can convert and there’s a waiting list, so there must be enough amongst us 26 million who think it’s good for them.
@gill70873 жыл бұрын
@@johncanalese588 the Ford Ranger sold more than 6,000 units in a June 2021 when the Dodge sold 600 and the Kia cerato sold 2,500. Even the GWM Canon sold more and rising fast. There are always those who prefer style to substance but I stand by my remarks, the Dodge is the answer to a question no one asked. Be fun to drive in the country for a week then…🙁
@johncanalese5883 жыл бұрын
@@gill7087 That’s because they are NOT building the RAM trucks in Australia or any where else in LHD, dope!! They are getting whatever they can get off the US production lines and then have to ship and convert to RHD! So of course they don’t have 6000 to sell, but they sell all that they can. Their conversion factory is running 24 hours a day apparently, so their business appears viable. So I stand by my comment that there are Aussies who want them. You are just 1 in 26,000,000 people, you won’t buy one it seems but it won’t make any difference.
@gill70873 жыл бұрын
@@johncanalese588 Well you were the one who stated 600 sales proved their popularity as if that proves also their suitability. Of course there are some people in a population of 26 million who want a $100,000 plus 4wd Ute that is useless in town, crap off road and uses twice the amount of fossil fuel that is reasonable just as there are men with small penises who buy them to compensate. They are a SMALL percentage but they exist therefore there is a small market to assist them. Don’t get so upset, your secret is safe. In a population of 26 million only a few hundred who read the comments on u-tube now know.
