I found "Cars and Cameras" several months ago, I was gonna buy a mini bike and started searching videos on KZbin. Needless to say I bought a Kart instead, a Murray that was on craigslist, Predator motor, no suspension and all the fun $200 can provide. Now i'm doing mods and saying "It'll be fine" A LOT. Love the channel, I think I may be hooked.

Hey Ike and John, I saw something that you guys may need to consider for this beast. I watched a video last week of a predator 212 with a roots type supercharger on it. Guy fitted an old VW smog pump on the engine and ran it as the supercharger. Freestanding the engine made 17psi but operational boost was around 10psi.

Hi guys, love the videos. Im no expert but my brother in law races carts with either honda clones or predator 212's and they pretty much tape off 90% of cooling vents. Most of the vet racers run there 212's around 400 degrees so tape it up lol and may i suggest a pocket friendly cam upgrade sold by Gopowersports and ARC, the BSP-3, just a suggestion.
@jimciancio9005 Жыл бұрын
In all reality John and Ike, there's actually 5 - 90° turns into the cylinders each. The hidden 90° is inside your cylinder heads where the Air/Fuel enters the head and thus needs to get by your intake valves before entering your cylinders. Not only another 90° but the most restricted of all. Being a Honda clone V twin the Chinese have ripped off the intake port's aren't of the best flowing qualities and are pretty square in shape. Plus the air/fuel needs to make its way between the valves and the seats and around the valve stems. So porting and even some filling within these ports maybe necessary to produce a better designed intake and or exhaust port on these engines. Having built a professional racing engines for many years now and actually a few being V twin Briggs Vanguards and dozens of single jug engines used in racing circuits, these small engines were never intended for performance use. There's plenty of people out there that have proven tricks to getting the best possible potential from such engines though which might not seem kosher to say your car engine or V8 race engines. When you're able to buy off the shelf performance parts for such things, well these engines are a little bit more involved in the creativity process of achieving the best results from parts never intended to fit these types of engines. Nowadays there are many small aftermarket companies though producing quality parts and performance parts for smaller engines. ARC being one of these companies who builds custom parts for your more common engines. DYNO CAMS being another and ISKY Camshaft also sells products like valve springs, locks and retainers necessary to match up with your bigger Camshaft profiles. But you guys are starting off with basic ideas and dreams, which we all started from. The bonus of having fun with what you do for work is the cherry on top for sure! But just wanted to let you guys know your doing great so far starting from scratch! I did 3 years of small engine in schools and worked in machine shops growing up to eventually running a small engine repair business for most of my life. It's now morphed into engineering and much different work than I ever anticipated I'd be doing at say 18-24 years old Lol. But we live and learn, this is life, and for some of us we find ourselves hating what we do after the honeymoon phase wares off, but because it's easy enough to do we will tolerate this kind of unhappiness for sometimes our entire lives. It's when you find something that is fun or you enjoy to do, sometimes challenging, which keeps things interesting so you don't get bored with it. This is the ultimate dream come true, being able to work from home or close by, doing what you enjoy doing and making a halfway decent profit doing so! Not many people have this all in one bag, so please never take this job fo4 granted and continue to have fun doing so and the money will follow as well as your people who enjoy watching your videos. Congratulations guys you are on the up and up. One last suggestion, is to never stop learning either, the ones who fail or fall the hardest, are the ones that feel they know it all.

Might be a little on the lean side, dis coloring those mufflers that bad that quick. You guys may also get a little more out of it by synchronizing the carbs too. You'd just need a port in each intake and a length of clear vynil tubing with a little water with food coloring.. Attach each end to the ports on the manifolds, tape the center of tubing down and back up a yard stick. Fire it up and adjust the idle screws until the water is the same height on both sides of the yard stick. We used to have to do this on old 2 cyl motorcycles with 2 carbs....
@bennett38488 жыл бұрын
actually I put a muffler on my box stock clone to add back pressure. it helps it run a little better on small engines but on a v twin I have noticed no difference in power just a little off the start but nothing at the end of the straight away.

Turn it into a stroker, lengthen the crank stroke and shorten the piston height and make mad power out that thing and get a custom cam and rocker arms and that thing will be a monster on the engine alone then EFI the thing and make more power on top of everything else (just a little food for thought for ya )

Think I would have rather had the simplicity of the single carb. Really, as rounded as the corners in the intake manifold are, I doubt your losing enough power to notice. Would also lengthen the chassis a bit so you aren't so knotted up to drive the thing. Really liking the exhaust note now. Not so sharp sounding. Damn cool rig guys!

Hey carsandcameras, I have a question in regards to building my own muffler for my Subaru eh72fi (28 hp efi). It is mounted on a mud motor frame built by MudBuddy. We use them as shallow water motors to get to hunting spots. Now I'm not sure if there if this makes sense, but I'm pretty sure in some vehicles there is supposed to be some type of backpressure for the engine to perform as it should. Is that the same case with small efi motors? Thanks for the help!

Need to synchronize the carbs at idle and make sure they don't open one before the other. You can drill a hole in the intake and thread in a brass nipple, then use two vacuum gauges. Adjust idle screw on each one till vacuum matches and your idle is where you want it. should eliminate some of the stumbling when you stab the trhottle.
@TrojanHorse19598 жыл бұрын
Dual carbs might hurt your performance. The intake pulses on 1-2 cylinder engines cause them to turn on and shut off the fuel flow too quickly. A better carb would be a slightly larger than you need motorcycle carb jetted to run properly on your engine. You can read the plugs to find the right air/fuel mixture. Feed it with one of those small, cheap 5 psi electric fuel pumps and regulators. Around 1-2 psi of fuel pressure should be sufficient. Experiment with intake length to get the best balance of low and top end performance. Tie your exhaust tubes together with a tube of slightly smaller diameter to smooth out the exhaust pulses and provide better scavenging.
