Just did this comparison. Bought the Venue. Not sure why but the Kona is gutless. All you need to do is test drive both. Drive on City Street. Floor it. The passing gear tells all. The Venue is a touch louder but has a better ride. You feel every bump in the road in the Kona. Venue! Better value.

"IVT" because they don't want to call it what it is, which is a CVT. That being said, Honda, Toyota and others are all cheeping out with CVTs... Well, except Mazda, they are still using a full automatic, but Mazda's air conditioning is terrible in hot climates, and I live in the Desert Southwest U.S. which has temps over 105f / 40c for several months.... sigh 😐 What I want is a version of the Kona with the normaly aspirated 2.4, that is in the Sonata. Great mileage and close to 200hp without a turbo and also a very reliable engine.

I have a 22 Venue and my wife has a 21 AWD Kona. We have had zero problems with either one. They both are great A to B vehicles with just the right amount of Tech and comfort.

Highly recommend the Venue Limited! I have a red, loaded, 2022 Venue Limited with a dealer added power sunroof, that I requested. I absolutely love the vehicle. While it’s no speedster, what drew me to the car, was its more squarish design which can only be found in a few vehicles these days. The headroom is spacious, even with the added sunroof that took up about 2 inches after the install. I love the LED package on the Limited as well as the Bluelink App, Leather Steering Wheel, Apple CarPlay, Armrest, Heated Seats and a whole bunch of other options & features. Snow mode got me through 2 blizzards. Sport mode really gives the car a boost. Overall gas mileage (mostly urban) is consistently above 30 mpg. If combine with highway, can hit 35, even 39.9mpg (I'm still trying for 40). The storage capacity with hatch and 60/40 seats got me through a home reno, carting full size skylights, boxes of tile, 5 gal containers of compound / driveway sealer, etc…

Hi, my wife and I want to but either Kona or Venue. I am leaning Venue, as you have done. we live with winter here, so I like the heated seats and all. How has the gas been on your venue? It is a big factor , as we commute rurally on highway. I am tired of filling a big truck up. So, I was looking at a small car, but this Venue looks like it could handle things? Thanks

@@BlueBlood3 it has gotten me through everything I’ve put it through, so far. Snow mode with electronic gears works great, downshifting as needed to go up slick hills. If you put in Premium unleaded, in Normal mode I’ve gotten 49 MPG on all highway driving with an average of 40 MPG. Sport mode with Premium is like driving a little rocket. Again, not a speedster, but it surprises!!!

@@RonVining Wow, thank you!! I like the looks of the Venue, more than the Kicks. I just think it keeps a cool look. and stands alone. Whereas, the Kicks, I have seen so many that look like that. I do like the Kicks, but the Venue is the way I believe we are going to go in the next few days here. I love the squarish design, curious what colour did you choose, and how do you like it?

@@BlueBlood3 Awesome! I think you’ll like it. Before you buy, the Venue is being redesigned for 2025, so look for press / leaked photos to see if you’d prefer the current 2024 design vs. the new look of the 2025. As for color, I forgot the exact color code/name but it’s red-ish.

Trax would have to come up with that 3 year free service plan to bring me back. The Kona is cuter, but unless the ride is better, the new features aren't with the price in my book. I'd stick with the Venue.

I like most everything about these econo boxes. Except for the infotainment screens. Why are manufacturers so reticent to fully integrate the screen in to the dash. Both of these cars look like they merely followed tesla and glued an ipad to the dash. Some manygmfacturers spend the money on design to integrate. Hyundai is no longer near the top of my list.

Bought my daughter the 2023 FWD-SEL Kona. I drove it for a month while she used our 2020 chevy Colorado. She loved the truck and I really enjoyed the Kona . We swapped. The Kona rocks.

Well, just watched this...and My wife and I are basically tossing a coin btwn these two. I want good gas mileage, handling in winter, speed is not important, comfort is, so if anyone can help my decision...PLS help!!! lol serious, we are so stuck btwn these two. Both horrendous for winter. Buy the new chevy trax. It’s completely redesigned and not garbage anymore. I used to work for a parts vendor and would constantly see fuel pump and engine replacement parts for these trash vehicles. I will never buy hyundai or kia. If you want something even better get a mazda cx30 or nissan kicks

Between these two, I think the Venue is much better looking. My problem with both is they sit so low. They're more like tall hatchbacks rather than proper CUVs. Kia did much better with the Kona platform when they made the Seltos. It's more attractive (IMO) and styled to look like a proper CUV. You sit higher up. It has more headroom. For under $25k, it also comes with leather-wrapped wheel, padded armrests, auto climate control, and many other nice features, which makes it cheaper than the Kona.

@@TDrakoo98 the Seltos uses the same engines and transmissions as the Kona and get the same economy. Both are slightly better on gas that the Venue.

Great comparison video of two of the Hyundai's I'm interested in! I have a 2019 Kona SE, but seeing that the 2023 Venue has a digital cluster makes me want it. And wireless Android Auto is better than having built-in nav, at least for me, since I use Google for almost everything.

Both of these vehicles will have Wireless AA as long as they have the 8" screen (Minus the Venue Limited with nav). I like the Kona SEL for the extra features you gain over the SE. The SEL Convenience package is nice for the heated seats but you loose the 8" screen.

It will depend on the trim level but the starting MSRP is $2,500 less for the Venue. Comparing both SEL trim level as seen the MSRP would be roughly Venue SEL: $22,735 & Kona SEL FWD: $25,285.

I don't know for sure but because they had the roof rails inside, I would estimate between 65-70". This would be slightly smaller than the width of the vehicle.
