Holy snuff ... I fixed my '96 Subaru's brakes ... it had been sitting 40ish days and the brake cylinder seized up it seems, but as a result of doing all this stuff, I'm also now comfortable changing out the pads in the future. Just basically made $300 and who knows how much more on brake service. Incredible. YT rocks, many thanks ! :)

one thing which could be also checked is the free and smooth movement of the caliper guide pins.

Great video, I don't have much experience with cars so I though that I could retract the piston the same way I would by turning the pistons. Didn't realize you were suppose to do it by pushing it in.
@patw589910 жыл бұрын
I thought it would be the same way as my 240sx
@CarsNToys10 жыл бұрын
Pat W You are correct. Some cars require the piston to be turned. But no need on this Subaru. Just push in the piston and that"s it.

I was wondering if this would work for a 2011 wrx? I'm sure it's the same process but was wondering if it was the same torque specs?

Take the brake slides out of the boots and grease those

Disclaimer...be sure to "bed" your brakes. Perfect timing...video doesn't drag on and on. Think ya kind of went a bit excess on the grease coverage area.

if i have seen that correct, you are just jacking up one wheel. which gear the car is in during a rotor replacement? neutral, 1st gear? i am asking to find out, if the jacked up wheel can be turned in order to set up the e-brake inside the rotor, when the car is in first gear (manual transmission)? thx

Hi, nice video Sir. Is it okay not to bleed it after you change the brake pads? Also do you have a video on how to change the rear rotor please.
@CarsNToys10 жыл бұрын
Hi Kirk. No need to bleed due to no air entered the brake system. I do have a rear rotor video. Just search under my page or my website. Cheers.

So, if I need to replace the rotor too, I just remove the caliper mounting bracket in addition to these steps and that's it?
@CarsNToys10 жыл бұрын
iiDefied Pretty much. I'll actually have a video for that most likely by tomorrow.
@iiDefied10 жыл бұрын

Not sure if you said it, but make sure people know to have the parking brake off.

@Suhh Cuhh because you won't get the rotor off with it on.

Caliper clips/pins are probably seized. Haven’t seen him take it out. Maybe it’s not important but idk why techs do it then (trust me, I am one)
