Fiesta ST MK8 Review - Is new always better?

I have one with performance pack, the low end torque is manageable, its a bit bouncy on the B roads but its fun and that's what we love about them..

Great review fella, I had my MK8 ST and I don't regret buying it, I got mine for 19k I had MK3 RS and I know what you going to say, why did swap it I got an early 16 plate and after the headgasket repair I wasn't happen with the car and didn't have an extended warranty so I weighed up and I didn't trust my RS so I had a test drive and was really impressed so I changed it, Iam thinking going in for ST3 when my current deal comes to a finish, I like it that much Iam going to go in for another and I think the 3 cylinder will be very tuneable, keep up with the content fella👍

Good review mate , the reason some may not choose the alternatives are some people prefer owning a newer car golf rs and e46 m3s at that price are older and more than likely hammered due to the type of cars tbey are , i like my vag cars but ive had ford st models inc a mk3.5 st and fords win hands down for handling and general connection with the road , keep it up mate im now subbed👍

Good review.. I recently purchased the performance edition in heritage orange.. revo map will be incoming for the car.. it's quick without being to quick and on a good b road I can't stop smiling..yes I could of looked at a golf r but as buying new and getting a hefty discount on the fiesta I went with it.. haven't regretted it.plus on motorway when just pootling along can get late 40s to the gallon. There are better cars out there but this has so much character. It's like a little puppy that just constantly wants to play.. I had 17 plate focus ST before this and have to say in all areas (bar it not being quite as roomy) the fiesta for me is definitely the better car

I have to say the Clio had a much smoother ride overall and the dual clutch box made the car feel quite exciting. But the Fiesta ST is more fun and the interior is far superior.

Torque is useful when on the circuit / around the corners, not in a straight line like you've mentioned here..

I don't know why the speedo has the KPH scale highlighted in red ? .... It seems a bit pointless to me, and probably take your eyes off the most important red part on the rev counter !!

Just to add that the interior engineer sound is kind of fake through the speakers I believe. My brother has a new St3 and it’s got the spirited sound inside the cab but outside it’s not, it’s all but silent as it races past you when I was listening to it from another car. A bit disappointing to be honest.

Even the BnO speaker grill is plain black plastic Ford made that look cheap even,i mean no chrome edge or logo to make it look premium,a horrible Tablet look screen i fail to see what on Earth is more premium than the 2015 ST2 MK 7 i owned for a year,i test drove two of the MK 8's one made nice exhausts sounds the other did not both were in Sport mode so i am not sure what was going on there, They are dropping in price on the used market but nothing about the price right now will make me get another Fiesta ST for a while yet !

You get torque steer because you're putting too much power down for the gear you're in.

You're forgetting one of the main selling points of the car, fuel economy. How many cars give you this performance and return ~40mpg?

Manny Singh if you drive it like it’s meant to be driven you won’t be getting 40mpg

Manny Singh yeah that’s all good, but the down side is the car does not sound good in normal mode, would 100% recommend getting a airtek air filter just to make the cabin noise sound better in normal mode
