This tune and "Come ye Fair and Tender Ladies" are prescient of the folk music movement beginning to develop in the North in the late 50’s. I read recently that Mother Maybelle visited college campuses and performed at new music festivals in the 60’s and 70’s sharing these tunes. We are so lucky for this.

Prescient? This performance is from the 60s.

@@SirCoughsalot Thank you for correcting me. I thought the performance was earlier. Much appreciated. Your handle is funny!

This also helped to start the folk music of the 60s....they influenced many young artists of the 60s and seventies. Look at the Lovin Spoonful.... John Sebastian plays An autoharp , Janis Joplin plays an autoharp....Cass Elliot can play an autoharp too....alot of the songs back then easily fit on an autoharp....especially house of the rising sun...was Most likely composed using an Autoharp....the song ....Welcome back Kotter was composed on an Autoharp....if you listen to the song....you'll even hear the autoharp playing....

Singing as only Anita can. The sisters often said Anita was the best bassist they've worked with, and her bass work on this tune is on display.

🎉Most of the students seemed to know this song well as they were singing along with the Carter Family.
