His name is Ben Daniels. And yes, he is absolutely phenomenal! I just found out that his husband died a couple of days after the premier. Which makes sense why he wasn't in the press tour. Btw, if you're a GOT fan, his husband was the guy who played Cersei's uncle Kevan Lannister.

After watching this, I realized Lestat and Armand have something in common: they both stalk Louis. Did anyone else notice how Armand's expression changes as the story is being told about how they met? When he embraces Louis's hand, he quickly looks up at Daniel and then immediately looks down at the floor, almost as if he's sad or lying. The Alice attack on Daniel seemed out of character for Louis. Did Armand make him do this ? I was surprised Armand didn’t stop him like he did when he asked about Claudia’s assault.

That's a good question on if Armand made him do it, it's possible for sure and would make sense since it is out of character. But people do act out of character when they are pushed far enough and Daniel was needling Louis about a really personal part of his life. He may have just had enough? - Jess

It's strange for me! I thought about who he reminded me of for a long time and then it hit me ... I still miss him. Loved watching Parts Unknown for so many years. Now, where is Daniel's story going to go from here? -Matt

I enjoyed the second episode more than the first. The “performance” was fantastic. Had to love the trap door on stage floor. I realized that my problem is that my favorite character last season was Lestat and Louis and Claudia are not quite doing it for me. I will probably continue to watch. For all things vampire, one of my vampire favorite movies (a real oldie) : “The Hunger” with David Bowie and Catherine Deneuve.

@@MattandJessTV It's light-hearted Vampire fun. Doesn't have the laughs of WWDITS, but it's charming. Reginald is a love-sick, do-gooder style Vampire, surrounded by a plethora of supernatural characters. It's got more of a Supernatural CW atmosphere to it

Ok, I like the vampire MC (Santiago?) at the theater…what is his name? There are some goths in the crowds very close to World Goth Day, so cool. I liked the death play but I think I liked the one in the Interview with the Vampire movie with Antonio Bandaras better. The scene was more sensual in the movie. Do they say F off in the book upon meeting Claudia and Louis? Then I thought Daniel was making fun of a Mexican accent…then Vampire Pride! from Claudia…why did they straight wash Daniel…it makes no sense…then the mopeds are like some French Wave movie…why would Louie be taking photos if they aren’t suppose to expose themselves…did they attack and kill large groups in the books…I thought they were supposed to be on the down low? Then my DVD-R just cut off on the Armand and Louie smoking scene. Anything happen at the very end? Again, confused. I just didn’t feel like much plot was happening.

Oh, that is Santiago 100%! He's a great character already. I believe the plot right now is mostly just setting the stage for the Louis - Armand dynamic, how it works, and how that could be valuable in time. -Matt

There were parts of this episode that were good but I actually like the premier better than this episode. I think it's because of Armand. Him being in there interviewing with Louie just annoyed the you know what out of me. I like it just being Louie being interviewed by Molloy and telling his story. Especially when he starts talking over Louie or finishing his sentences. I hope the rest of the season is not like that. I have no idea what happens in the book or movie but maybe Armand gets better with the show. I hope so st least anyway because for whatever reason he messes up this episode for me. The casting of Ben Daniels was brilliant. He is the perfect vampire so that is a plus in this episode. It also felt rushed towards the end to me. Maybe I'll re-watch it and enjoy it more. By the way Matt I also see the late great Anthony Bourdain everytime I see and listen to Molloy. Good to know I'm not the only one. Love the guy playing that character as well.

Do you think that Louis is going to get annoyed by it eventually? I would be worried about the interview eventually being hijacked since Armand likes to be in control clearly. Also good to know I'm not the only one with Bourdain! I think my love for Parts Unknown is one of the reasons why I've grown attached to that character so much. -Matt

@@MattandJessTV yes I do think Louis will eventually get annoyed by it. Like you said he's clearly trying to hijack the interview. I'm intrested to see where that dynamic goes. I'm like you Molloy doesn't have to bring him in but I would love for Lastat to show up to the interview towards the end of the season and cause all kinds of trouble. I to think his resemblance to Anthony Bourdain is why I love the charter in many ways as well. Parts unknown was the best. Rip!

I disagree. He wasn't "annoying." I bet if it was Lestat, a white actor, instead of Assad, you wouldn't give a s******, and love their cattiness. This season is far superior than seasone one.

Claudia's face was so expressive & theatrical lol very appropriate. I don't think that portrait of Lestat looked very much like him but clearly it was. Oh Santiago, what a drama queen! I would NOT be in that theater even tho I love vamps. Too dangerous. This show us so amazing, can't wait til next week!

Why didn’t Louis care at all last episode for the woman killed but suddenly is all emotional with the woman this episode in the death play? I am confused.

Ep 1 was showing how Louis has gradually settled into his vampirism and has separated himself from human affairs. You can see this in how Louis has begun feeding on humans. Ep 2, Louis does not interfere at all…. He just does not like grandiose displays of violence for personal entertainment. You can see this in season 1. That is the main reason he and Lestat have quarreled

@@jade-rt2jt I thought the main reason they quarreled was that Lestat was extremely abusive and Louis didn’t want that in a relationship. I am assuming few beings, immortal or not, would.

He still cared in a sense but is no longer invested. The reaction for the second woman was moreso how out in the open the vampires were with what was going on. It was the next stage of "coming out" as a vampire. He's finally comfortable admitting that he's a vampire but this show is like going to a Pride parade for the first time in front of a lot of cis hetero people gawking at them. I highly doubt that he would have had the same reaction if they'd fed on the woman downstairs in the cellar.

@@wildmarjoramdieselpunk6396 Louis doesn’t necessarily acknowledge the abusiveness tbh. Did u watch s1? A lot of the nuances of lestats abusiveness has to be explained to him by Daniel during the interviews because he’s so in denial/so in love. I’d say the main reasons they did not get along in s1 is their conflicting personalities/perspectives on vampirism. Louis is reserved. Lestat is extroverted. Louis is empathetic. Lestat is scared of his tender emotions. Here’s a paraphrased quote from the writers “Louis and Lestat are complete opposites, that’s why they clash. That’s why they complete each other.” Yes Lestat IS abusive. More so than in the books since they chose to intensify every emotion tbh. But they DO love eachother. These two things are not mutually exclusive lol. We see this played out in Louis’ guilt of lestats murder…. (He did not want to kill Lestat because of his love for him) ….and lestats handwritten letter from the bank. We’ll see how Lestat redeems himself 😂

Ok, I am about 17 minutes in and…what…vampire can have their photos taken? I mean, I just watched Scream, Bracula, Scream on Svengoolie and vampires not showing up in photos was a big deal. Is this Anne Rice’s Immortal Universal Canon? I guess in the movie Queen of the Damned, Lestat made videos so he could be seen on video. It’s confusing my senses.

Yes. This is Anne Rice's universe. Her vampires can be seen in mirrors and photographs. The 1994 film showed them with mirror reflections.

I loved this episode, BUT I have to say, I dislike, again, the changes. I wished it was Armand instead of Santiago who come hypnotize the woman that is being captured. To me, it just took away his spotlight, took away in showing how seductive, powerful yet scary he can be! I swear, if they change Claudia's death and made her runaway or whatever, I will be very upset because Claudia should be done, not be alive. But season two is far superior to season one. I really like this season.

We don't know what's in the books, but we've see from t he comments that there's been a few changes that not everyone is loving. I guess claudia dies? We haven't read the source material so we didn't know that. We've been trying to keep ourselves spoiler free. - Jess

@@MattandJessTV I am not sure. I don’t know think it’s the actors. I think it is more telling than showing, like if it flashed to young Daniel and Alice in that one scene. I just listened to a podcast about last season and they pointed out more telling than showing scenes too. Of course, now I read a whole “Armand is Alice” theory…and that would be intriguing…I guess also, they are all just sitting static and not moving much. I don’t feel any real “spark” to it. Maybe it’s the directing or editing?

I don’t know if it just me, but now I am 20 minutes in an hour long DVD-R’ed episode and there is just too much narration. It feels like it’s telling and not showing. Why can’t I just watch this without narration? Plus the banter between Armand, Louis and Daniel is just too long played at this point. I am hoping the theater is something because I need some spark and some showing.

With reading everyone’s reaction on social media I found nothing but fanatical excitement and for me whose watched the first season like 10x feel lackluster.. slow moving, dull, elongated, dragging.. like I get it Louis is depressed and grieving but cmon.. Santiago picked things up with his raw talent but ehh 🤨

I mean the basis of the story is that this is an INTERVIEW. Interviews come with a significant amount of narration... We do get a significant amount of flashbacks. And I would say that there may be is a little bit more narration than there was in the first season, potentially, but it isn't significantly noticeable to me.... There was still a lot of narration in season 1 compared to a lot of other shows out there because again this is an interview so Louis, and now Armand, are narrating a LOT of stuff... There is a little bit of show not tell but there is a significant amount of tell instead of show because again... interview... that just comes with the territory of the plot point of it being an interview. 🤷‍♀️

I just thought it was gothic theater makeup…or Rococo. Wait, you mean the actual vampires, not the front row fans? I didn’t really feel that Le Hot Topic Espirit, they felt more French New Wave or proto French New Wave to me.

I mean if they went book accurate with how the theater is supposed to look. They would all have jet black dyed hair.... They would look even MORE like they had just stepped out of hot topic, in my opinion. So what they did in the show is definitely an improvement on that IMO lmaooo.
