That alternate camera angle where you finally realize Carter's got a second bass set up and you're not going crazy.

Yeah!))) I thought, i was going mad --watched a few videos of Carter and only in this video finally saw WHAT'S going on)) Hi is absolutely INCREDIBLE musician, but this set up is so genius and MUSICAL!

Every piece of that kit is like a fresh crispy sprite right when you open it. Like a classic one in a can with real sugar.

Those buzzes man.. sound exactly like static. Literally an actual drumming legend of our time can’t tell me otherwise.
@groovegoon882 жыл бұрын
Everything about Carters playing from the organic tuning and mic-ing to the subtle melodic approach to touch and feel around the kit just make the voices in the sticks and kit sing for themselves. Watching these videos always makes me want to play!

A beautiful demonstration of drums as a true musical instrument. That snare is so surprisingly sensitive while still being round, intimate & warm. Just gorgeous; that’s the friggin’ Stradivarius of snare drums. I wonder if Jim Keltner was much of an influence on Carter.

Love that Dimsunk is getting recognition finally. He has been uploading religiously for years and it's been great watching him come up. This is my first time hearing of the guy doing the demo and he was a joy to listen to as well.

I love the second bass drum. It's not often you witness a musician do something that you're fairly certain you've never seen someone else do. The closest I've seen is Will Calhoun, but he doesn't play with his heel and usually it's in time with the hihat foot.

As an "alt rock" drummer who learned to play "wrong"(hitting too hard, bad posture, etc...) over 20 years ago and working to correct these things; do you actively work on and practice playing quietly? Also, what is the best entry level jazz drummer song to consider learning? Or paradiddle , etc... for a drummer wanting to learn jazz proper?
@philipnestor50342 жыл бұрын
I have the same model snare drum but for some reason I don’t sound anywhere near as good as Carter playing his! Hmmm… must be something wrong with my snare drum!🤪. I know Carter uses Istanbul Agop which are beautiful cymbals, I’m just wondering which models he’s using here. It looks like on his left is a the Signature China with some rivets. Great playing and musicality as usual from Carter

Can't watch any of your videos in it's entirety. It's simply not possible not to go directly behind the kit after hearing you play for like 16 bars. Only other two drummers that get me motivated like that are Billy Martin and Brian Blade.
