I was playing a gig at wings down under on main st Greenville. No one was there. I asked "where is everybody?" my partner said "they're all at the corner pocket watching this kid named Marcus King" I said "dang I bet that's Marvin's son" that was the first time I heard of him. He's great and we're proud of him! His skills are earned.

Thats awsome. Im just now starting myself in Greenville. Any tips for giggin around here?
@StokesMusicStudiosOnline7 ай бұрын
@@dillonbrown2956 not really, it's a weird scene.. I only made money when I was willing to play all the standard covers. People in Greenville are different than Ashville or even Spartanburg. In those towns they liked my originals. In Greenville you gotta play brown eyed girl. Or be as good as Marcus I guess.

Early 2000s Marcus was like 6 years old though…
@StokesMusicStudiosOnline6 ай бұрын
@@maedhrosv8449 you are absolutely right! It must have been around 2012. Years run together when you're old and you wasted your time playing in dives every night. Marcus was a teenager whenever this happened. Wings down under was still open on main street.

Being from the UK, I had never really listened to much soul, country or blues music. I moved to Indiana about 6 years ago and bought a beater car to get me from A to B. The radio only had one station programmed and it was a country and soul station.. From that moment I knew I had been missing out for the past 30 years. Finding Marcus has been a gift too.. Seriously. Makes even the most stressful days easier.

Haven’t really been interested in any artists for quite a few years until I just happened to see Marcus and Billy Strings on one of these videos about 6 months ago and was blown away, can’t get enough of their stuff. My guitars got dusted off and restrung, fingers are toughened up again and I’m having a blast! Just a guess but I think there are plenty of other people that might have done the same. Anyway, great video as usual, you younger guys are inspiring people to love this music once again. Thanks so much!

Amazing talent that Marcus. And Drew Smithers? Perfection. Thank you gentlemen. ~S
