I graduated college in May during the pandemic and couldn’t get a job. I moved back in with my parents and was working a part time shift that started at 5am just to make a little money. I listened to this song almost every morning on my drive and felt really down. Things are looking up for me right now and I am thankful, but I’m also thankful for the rough times that made me stronger.

Don't judge country music by Charlie Crockett............he's much better than 95% of what's out there right now. IF you start exploring the older stuff (50's to 70's) you might uncover some sounds you like. For instance, the Danny O'Keefe original and Charlie Rich remake of this song are both fantastic. I can't tell you the name of a single country "artist" on the radio right now, and I use the quote marks in complete sarcasm. But before Nashville's greed destroyed country music, there was a long heritage of some great talent and wonderful music. If you spend some time getting to know the genre you should make some enjoyable discoveries. ;)

I guess that’s not true if you like this cat. But I guess it’s more important for you to dislike an entire genre of music then to say the words, “wow country music is pretty darn good after all.”
@ORflycaster3 жыл бұрын
It’s perfectly ok to like only a very select few artists of a certain genre. Often the ones heavily pushed by the industry aren’t the ones that sound the best. I’ve been an avid country music fan for 45yrs, but hate most what’s pushed by Nashville today. For me it’s either older music or non mainstream talent like Charlie.

I knew lots about music but very little country. It wasn't until I discovered two amazing channels on KZbin that I became a country fanatic. Gems on VHS and Western AF have really changed the way I look at music. Charley I'm so glad I had discovered you.
