There’s actually a fan theory that I like about the ending of the Killing Joke, where off screen, Batman chokes Joker to death, finally giving up on his one rule, or at least in the idea of Joker ever changing. I know it’s been debunked, but I actually like the idea, because of the implications. Just because he kills 1 person, doesn’t mean he has to go full bore and go on a killing spree, as the writers seem to think, and it would be interesting to explore a story where this happens. After the Joker finally goes too far, Batman ends him in cold blood, and then they all essentially have just try to move on. Like even Batman has to tangle with having broken his one rule once.
