I don't think the Dark Horse comics are canon to the show for various reasons, but they did explain that the Count was a real person that Iron Klaw killed and assumed the identity of, and that Iron Klaw let Rampage assume it was the military that transformed him when he was actually the one responsible. They were also better stories than the show.

I'd like to see some of those villains worked into future GI Joe works. Either as third faction with their own agenda or just full on Cobra members. Iron Claw's deserves it the most with his mysterious shapshifting and double nature.

I think my favorite is Metalhead, he's basically like every other "radical" character who talks like a surfer dude. Inferno is basically the guy who would have become a spree killer IRL. Fensler would have dubbed THESE "knowing is half the battle" segments

Thanks for making these videos! I grew up in the 80s on G.I. Joe ARAH, and to this day one of my favorite episodes is "Captives of Cobra", which you used as comparison to G.I. Joe Extreme. As a kid, being adopted is always a difficult struggle, and seeing Shipwreck have that moment with his nephew in the show honestly helped me out back then as well. I just re-watched it yesterday in fact, and it's still an amazing moment in the series to me.

Funny enough, the 'G.I. Joe' comic from Marvel was originally going to be a 'S.H.E.I.L.D' comic with Larry Hama as one of the main writers, but that became the 'G.I. Joe' comic instead after Marvel acquired the license.

Ironically Captain America teamed up with the Transformers, but not GI Joe and yes there was outrage. I still want to know why Cobra Commander never once appeared in this series since it takes place during the same time as Transformers season 3 which includes "Only Human" Especially since the SGT Savage stand alone episode basically told us the fallen enemy was Cobra

The Marvel GI Joe comics (and Transformers later retconned despite Spider-Man, SHIELD, and the Savage Land appearing previously and Circuit Breaker appearing in Secret Wars II) didn't take place in the mainstream Marvel universe. That's why we didn't get Captain America joining the Joes. Just Sgt. Slaughter, which makes up for it.

Jennea Coleman-Cubero Flint. The character is Melissa Fareborn and one episode does seem to indicate that Flint is his daughter. Also Cobra Commander is part of one episode.

From all G.I. Joe cartoon this one is easily worst. As bad as they are G.I. Joe The Movie and G.I. Joe Sigma 6 have nothing on G.I. Joe Extreme as far as being bad cartoon goes. I am happy that you mentioned G.I. Joe Renegades because I really like that. After all I grew up reading G.I. Joe comic books published by Marvel rather than watching original 80's cartoon so I am used to having more complex characters and actually serious villains as well as actual stakes involved in my G.I. Joe. Those comic books were not afraid to kill off named characters from any of sides when time was right. Even October Guard wasn't safe.

Extreme! Oh Lord. The 90s had its good share of embarrassing trends. This show is the Yo Yogi! of its era in that there is no way you want to see it again. However how bad is it when Yo Yogi gets reruns on TV than this. Dang. At least they did good with the villains.

I'm not as familiar with GI Joe as I am with Transformers, but I have no idea what this has to do with GI Joe from what I know about the franchise. Also, what's with all the shading? It's like most of the animation budget spent on black ink, because it's EVERYWHERE in this show. I've only heard stories of how bad this show was, but now I know, and knowing is half the battle (GI JOOOOOOOOOOE!!!)

I remember watching this show as a kid and hate the visual aesthetics like there were too many shadows in the show. I looked like it was always set in a low light environment a perpetual twilight if you will. It was always distracting to me and it prevented me from felling in vested in the show.

I'm happy to say this I actually enjoyed GI Joe extreme and I have it on DVD complete series set with the pilot episode of Sergeant Savage and the screaming eagles. Yes it was no original GI Joe from the '80s but it was interesting in its own way. In other words what I'm saying is everybody has their own opinion, just because you hate the show doesn't mean everybody else is going to hate it as well.

Ok soo the extreme team are like the next versions of clones just too extreme savage is steroid Duke, then you harpoon who is extreme torpedo, freight who is too extreme version of roadblock, the dred head dude is the extreme version of alpine. Yeah I remember seeing a couple of the episodes were broadcast in one of channels here in the Philippines in Southeast Asia. Saw maybe two and stopped watching since I could not connect it to any of the G. I. Joe I watched as a kid. I also felt the team looks horrible and it looked liked they are steroid like muscular weirdos. I just could not get it. Personally it just looked stupid.
