A father and son, a rare car, a big restoration and why the Arnolt Bristol has four pedals instead of three. A wonderful story about a beautiful car that couples post war British engineering with unique Italian styling.

I've only ever seen one 'Wacky' Arnolt Bristol, which is a lovely car with an almost bullet proof 2.0L BMW derived Bristol engine. I knew a very short man who had a Bristol 400 cabriolet that had the same one shot lube system. Once when I was driving behind him, he completely disappeared from view and then his head and shoulders popped up after a couple of seconds. When I asked him what happened, he said that the lube pedal was so far down the floor, that his foot would not reach the pedal unless he slid down the seat. The joys of motoring in the old days!

Hi thanks for your kind comments on the video. Yes it is an amazing car that has brought so many great adventures to dad and my life. It's still an "event" every time we take it for a drive and always will be. Steve Hawkins

Just FABULOUS. I look forward to sharing conversation and a beverage with Steve and Ray Hawkins at the Greenwich Concours in a month. (A favor: Arnolt-Bristol should be hyphenated.) Michael Arnolt
