As an American who lives in a gas and oil state (so prices are even lower by American standards) I totally get it. I studied abroad in London in 2008 and saw those gas prices..by the LITER not the gallon like we have in the USA...yeah I would not go with an American V8 in that world and would likely opt for the Audi. But since I live in the dry and hot American Southwest with 300 days of sunshine and low gas prices, the American V8 is not a problem. These cars do very much reflect the environment in which they were born. All great cars.

I have the TT now, before I had an M135i (so basically the same as the 235i). I never get tired of looking at the TT, inside and out is gorgeous and decent room in the front seats. It feels light and nimble and goes where I point it and I like the grip and control from the Quattro (only really noticeable on wet roundabouts tbh) and it's reasonably quick but the performance feels very underwhelming after the BMW- in that there was a huge surge of torque from low revs and an incredible sound from the 6 cylinder engine that, unlike the Audi, wasn't faked. It felt bigger and heavier on the road and honestly on a twisty British B Road the TT is probably quicker- at least with me driving because it inspires more confidence. But if I was choosing again I think I'd take the BMW purely for the performance (and only slightly less MPG, 31 versus 33). The Mustang doesn't even get considered because the fuel and tax bills are insane in the UK

The great thing about any 2 series is the modification options. There are many upsides, mine now hits 60 in 3.9, can be heard from miles away with custom burble options from comfort to full race modes and can outrun most anything, including the scatpacks. There are however severe downsides. Any warranty is nullified as soon as you start adding stage upgrades, intercoolers etc, and with the fuel mapping system, I get an abysmal 11mpg.. less mgp than my hemi.... but is it worth it.. Absolutely!

Pretty fair comparison. All depends what your looking for. Daily driver is different to a fun car and the Mustang has lots of fun. I have a 2010 so not as powerful and the "ordinary" handling but still fun and no issues on normal roads really. I have owned a BMW 535 (2012) and while it went well it was boring to drive. As for the TT I have never had won and as one of the comments below says its a little like a girly car for me. I might be biased but I would take the Mustang for weekend fun (in a convertible) and the BMW for daily drive

I wanted a mustang but was hugely disappointed when I got inside one and felt the interior quality, it was terrible. I ended up going for an M235i and after 3 years of ownership just replaced it with an M240i which has another 50nm of torque. The beamer is faster than the Mustang even though it's down on power. I also notice this guy misquotes the 0-60 times. The M235i was 4.8 not 5 and the M240i is quicker still at 4.6. I'm getting around 33mpg in the M240i which mixed driving.

The Ford engine is much more reliable. Plus Ford's best cars are better than BMWs best cars. Look it up. $500,000 dollar Ford GT beat all the BMW, Audi, Ferrari, and lambos at the lama race, if I spelled that correctly. Jay Leno even said his Ford GT is a better car and a better driving car than any of his exotics. How do you explain that? 😀 Go Ford. And again Ford hasnt been in that race (the biggest race in automotive sports) in fifty years since they one it the first time they competed in it, came back fifty years later and won it again. So the moral is just because they enjoy making cars affordable for the average person, doesn't mean they aren't capable of creating better cars than the Europeans. Because winning that race proves the brand is better. And once again, it's a fucking Ford. Suck on that for a little bit 😉

Good video as always Mat :) Such a little difference between about 200 bhp though.. (TT vs Mustang).. It´s all about the power to weight ratio and of course the 4wd. 200 bhp more gives you a 0-62 time improvement of 1 sec (TT vs Musang). The first 100->200 bhp gives you an improvement of maybe 4-5 seconds. It's all good tho. I like all these cars, each for it´s own reasons.
@nagmashot8 жыл бұрын
it is all about dual clutch transmission vs stick shift on the fist yards... in the open real world like the Autobahn a Mustang GT flooring at 100mph would leave both TT and 2series crying out loud for more power... I have driven a 432hp Camaro stick for three years in Germany... u need to come up with a RS4 C63 or M3 if you realy wanna race a big power cheap US V8 Pony car ...

I think the cupholders in the mustang are in the way because it was designed with the drivers side on the left and they overlooked the cupholders when they converted it to a right side drivers seat vehicle.

Bought the TT for my wife... Her feedback: it looks good, it drives well, the virtual cockpit is brilliant... I like driving it too, although mostly at night or incognito 😬
@Thehpman1008 жыл бұрын
It's just my opinion but god that BMW is bland on the outside. TT is a bit small for me being 6'2" but I've had 2 before and they are good cars but I'm not into 4 cylinders and I think a car in this category needs to have a good soundtrack and that is far better in a 6 or 8 cylinder config. Mustang needs some work inside but TBH I like it because it's different and I love a V8. Great review Matt.

I've would have taken the five O over the other cars any day. The sound of the V8 with the well proven Coyote engine nothing beats that.

Unfair review. Since you got the M version of the 2 series of bmw you should get the TT S to compare it to and it would beat both the BMW and the mustang in a straight line by ease.

@John TheGreek 13 the cars go 220 / m235 / and m2 the audi goes tt / tts / ttrs also the m235 has little to no performance mods it's more about the aesthetic of the car the m2 is an actual m car that's why they have m packages for some of there cars adds a more aggressive look but doesnt enhance the performance

The Mustang dimensions are comparable with the Audi A5 or mk3 Mondeo, give or take a few mm. It's not that big, the other cars are just quite small. No one bothers about the size of a DB9 lol! Watch a review by Carpride, he owns a v8 Mustang and can get 30mpg on his commute!
@SpyderRios8 жыл бұрын
The sensible buy is the BMW for sure but I would rather own the Mustang, it just looks so aggresive and cool. Although the reviewer mentions that the Audi TT looks the best I just don't see it. To me the TT looks too generic and uninspiring. The only problem with the Mustang might be it's size and interior space but then again that's not why you buy a Mustang. So to me is the Mustang in 1st, Audi TT second and BMW third. If I wanted a sport car that can haul things, I would rather go with the Focus RS.
@iantownsend54808 жыл бұрын
They should just make the TT a 2 seater

I bought the TT S-Line. It's epic. I looked at the BMW and found it very boring and the quality was much lower than the Audi. The BMW is more like a saloon car than a sports car really. The Mustang just felt nasty and was high on tax and fuel costs and the TT is a much nicer, much more special car to sit in and to own. It's brilliant to drive too!!!
@longtailgt8 жыл бұрын
The TT is a sports car. The BMW isn't.
@FungusLabel8 жыл бұрын
Audi TT more special than Mustang? Okaaaaaaay... Sory but if you want unique, charismatic and great sounding AFFORDABLE sports-GT car just get a Mustang GT. Sure, the interior is not as nice, but if you want a German car with similiar spec you will have to pay x2 more. Audi TT (especially with FWD) is just a smaller, less practical Cupra/S3 - which is not a bad thing, both cars are very fun to drive, but they have nothing on V8 muscle...
@jamiroquai01fan8 жыл бұрын
+LastWonderland The mustang is very cool but it's stupidly expensive to run, is too big and feels cheap. In reality it would be annoying to own in the uk. Nowhere near the German cars which is why they sell more. I'd love to drive Route 66 in one though! ;)
@FungusLabel8 жыл бұрын
jamiroquai01fan Mainstream isn't always better :P although I agree the fit and finish in German cars is one of the best. But the sound of Mustang V8... ahh hard decision ;)

Any german car with a 5.0 v8 engine would have killed that Mustang, but comparing it to a 3.0 v6 engine is just pointless especially when it comes to BMW and Audi. Although it's a pretty nice test/review so keep up the good work.
@benanderson898 жыл бұрын
A german 5.0 V8 would also cost about double any of these cars. For that money you'd be looking at the Mustang GT 350R, which destroys almost anything on track (with change to spare).
@Erjon4718 жыл бұрын
I can get an E63 AMG which has a 5.6 engine for $42.000 in my country. Mustangs are very expensive in here, German engineering is my favorite honestly, everyone has their own opinions so i thought that i might aswell express mine.

Mustang in EU 2.3 2016: 20k Bmw M2 in EU: 38k Not worth the difference when you can invest 2k in ecoboost and get 400 hp easy(or just an intercooler and tune and get 360) and save lots of money from depreciation and difference
