@KRAMITDFROG9 ай бұрын
Put yourself in their shoes: you know there is a high likelihood that a very expensive vehicle will get stolen; if it is your money, do you put it there or with a different vehicle? I know what your answer is, so I am not sure why you feel that they should do it. Additionally, as pointed out by someone else in this thread, if one gets stolen, they need to sell more than fifty £2K policies without any losses in order to just break even. The number would really be closer to sixty because about 20% of premium goes to operating expenses.
@KRAMITDFROG9 ай бұрын
@@lambo9286 Do yourself a favor and look into insurers' loss ratios. I cannot speak for the UK, but in the US combined ratio (loss ratio plus expenses) was 111.8 in 2022. That means that for every dollar in premium they paid out nearly $1.12. I ask you: is that making a killing? Just because you had no losses does not mean lots others did not. The whole basis of insurance is spread of risk, where the losses of the few are paid for by the premiums of the many who do not have losses. It is a calculated risk where you are betting you'll have a loss and they are betting that you won't. You can always feel free to self-insure - at least you can in the US. But, you had better believe that you need to have sufficient cash on hand to pay losses out of pocket, pay attorneys, pay adjusters, etc. when loss time comes around. Not making an excuse here but if you look at stats of failure rate (ie reliablity) - What is important to remember is everything follows a bath tub shape on a graph of age vs failure. This mean failure is more likely on a brand new car than a 2 year old car. Its not a case of failure chance starts low and only going up with age as is often portrayed. The first 10% of a car or components (it applies to everything) life is a time where failure likely hood is high, if it doesn’t fail in this time chances are its will be good for a long time. The likely hood of fail will then be low until it gets to the final 10% when it gets high again.

It’s about time car manufacturers were hung out to dry for the 1990’s level security they still put on modern cars! There is enough aftermarket stuff they could copy and use!! If they can force them to meet safety and planet saving crap, they can force them to build more secure cars!

@@lolitapitpong3826 Of course they do. I paid for an aftermarket immobiliser that even with my key you can’t start the car, bypass the OBD port or beat it with a scanner. This should be standard on all vehicles in this day and age. After I had it fitted, my insurance company didn’t even discount my cover, they claimed the standard security was enough, Clowns! 😂🤡

Jlr have very recently spent a lot of money upgrading the security features and shared it with other car manufacturers too. Additionally, a good portion of the cars that are stolen were not locked beforehand

Good grief insurance is expensive in the UK!! I only pay around £450 pounds per year for third party, full comp for my Discovery 5 and that also includes insurance for riding bicycles (as is now mandatory here in Japan). It is true that we have compulsory insurance and optional insurance here. The compulsory insurance is paid at the time of the bi-annual M.O.T. to the Land Transport Bureau and is about £270 (covers 2 years) but is insufficient cover, hence almost everyone gets optional insurance on top. It is still way less than a £1000 pounds per year. As for Land Rover's insurance, it is administered and provided by Wrisk Transfer Limited who also do insurance for BMW and Volvo etc.. It makes sense that Land Rover are also therefore refusing to insure vehicles of people living in certain high risk areas. The only way that Land Rover can fully offer all customers insurance is if they set up their own subsidiary insurance company. Even then it isn't that simple as all insurance companies will themselves take out insurance with reinsurance companies such as Lloyds, Swiss Re and Transatlantic Reinsurance Company etc. which will have limits on the amount of risk they are willing to undertake.

Fantastic resale values, mine locked me out in the middle of a field with the engine running, headlights on, couldn't use the app to open as it thought I was driving it, eventually AA opened by forcing the window and using the window button, infotainment useless, and weeks to get into the garage, where one of the Jaguar guys said they were being asked to work on LR but didn't want to as there was so much wrong, had it new for 6 weeks, went straight back, it was in the garage more than on my drive, I was so looking forward, but wouldn't go near them now,

I was lucky with the others, of course i had electrichal issue, solved.....turning off the engine, closing the car, opening again and starting the engine!!! 🤣 Was really fun to had these cars....every day a new emotion 😂 Now i'm moving to Us and i'm buying....a Lexus!

This time, though, the cooling failure caused the engine to overheat so badly that she needs a new engine. I'll never buy another Land Rover for the rest of my life.
