It is sad to see 100 years of heritage go from all manufacturers. Like Matt says "it looks like a Hyundai Kona". In 10 years, we've gone from performance driven agressiveness to soulless electric home appliances without character. Cars are like dishwashers and fridges are: square, standard 60cm wide, white, silvery logo, plastic bits and a plug. No need to go for a specific brand, 'cause all dishwashers are the same mediocre quality... Doe 't matter if you choose Siemens or Zanussi, VW or BYD.

got an M440i from 2024 (prior an 330i) and i have to say, whoever thought, removing the clima controll from the dash and put it into an screen menu needs to get spanked so fucking hard. you wanna change the intensity or the tempreture, maye turn ac off? no problem, button and its all good. now you have to look at the screen (great when you drive..) every buttonpress reduce your music volume too btw. sure it looks sleek but fuck me i miss my buttons.

Hey, guy from Germany here: Yes, the Design is a big step back, especially the Saloon/Coupe. Everybody over here is noticing, that the German Car Brands are all losing their standarts - in Design and in Refinement. Meanwhile the Brands are noticing, that their biggest market is China etc (7 out of 10 new BMWs are going to China), so they are all styling and developing their cars for those markets. Pretty sad, but well.. look at the BMW XM, its a shame and build for tasteless, superrich, non car people.

Nevertheless the concept was designed especially for the asian markets, as Sven Ritter, the project manager, stated in a few interviews. The new Skoda Superb is one of the few newer cars that address the climate button issue with 3, user definable hardware dials below the dashboard. They got oled displays on them. Wish more designers would use that idea. I don't need 10 buttons but at least 2-3 would be nice

The worst part about modern cars isn't the sometimes weird exterior, or that they are all turning heavy and electric. But it is the interior design. Why do we need a massive touchscreen in every single car? First off they make it stupidly expensive to maintain it and even the best screens can never be better than physical buttons..

You have a point to some extent but The screens are becoming extremely cheap to produce and replace (components) due to economies of scale and China flooding the market with OEM suppliers including well established suppliers who deal with major automotive companies. ECU and control units are the same whether we use physical buttons or not. If you think about it these days, replacing plastic buttons is becoming a hassle compared to maintaining the screens. People's taste is changing and they won't accept cheap plastic buttons in a premium car or even a Skoda. (not even luxury one). Since cars due to size, weight, options, ....etc are becoming prohibitively expensive compared to 2010 for instance. Hence, this raised the bar for people and putting aluminum buttons would be expensive especially if it is not shared with the best selling economy models offered by automotive groups like VW.

Actually given the amount of features those cars have, getting rid of the touchscreen in favour of physical buttons would be very bad idea. Look up Peugeot 407 button madness - it has 55 buttons and 4 knobs on central control stack alone - and that is a 2005 car with what today could be described as"bare minimum". With that said, the basic functions used by the driver on a daily basis should keep using physical controls.

So the styling is not for aero. Its because its what they wanted to look like its Aero. Those front vents are not fake. They just direct air behind the wheels not into the 'engine compartment' (obviously not needed) and that is an aero function. A very effective one like those mirrors.

Because nobody in their right mind buys a petrol or diesel in 2024. Audi's lineup is going towards 100% EV, and there will be no new petrol/diesel platforms (although there will be new facelifts of old models).

I'm surprised that it's only 4,928 mm long. Usually Audis are a few cm's longer than the equivalent BMW or Merc, but here the EQE is longer, and the I5 is almost 5.1m! Weird because the ICE B10 A5 is alot longer than the C class and 3 series. I noticed audis always looked more mature compared to the rivals in the same category. I drive a B9 A4, and find its proportions better than a W205 C Class which looks a bit stubby.

Despite the fact that it's electric which is an abomination in the first place, from the side (the sedan version) it looks like a Ford Mondeo and the front is like a slightly modified BMW 7 series.
