a third of the video in. Interesting take on the order/prioritization of the elements of a painting. He said, Value, Color, Edge then Drawing. But im pretty sure drawing is present throughout even during the initial composition. His block in already is pretty much spot on at the beginning. He later on clarified that he meant to finalize drawing at the very end once the other three are pretty much spot on. I guess its a process that assumes that ones has a level of drawing skill that will need little correction later on his fourth priority.

Good insight on the cooking analogy. trust the procees and methods. Interesting too that he has different pools of paint for white on his palette.

exactly! he definitely has drawing skills in figurure and portrait already as his second nature, otherwise he would not put the values and colors on the correst spots.... so -if you are watching this, and you are a beginner, there is no way you can finish a portrait if your drawing skills are not in place from the get go....

I wondered if you made note of the actual flesh mixtures he used for this demo and I am curious about the box he has. Does it have a light at the top? What type of spotlight did he have on the model? I'd be grateful for any or all of these questions answered. Thanks for the upload.

The music is totally unnecessary, distracting and it competes with the sound of his talking. Plus, a time lapse demonstration is in NO WAY instructional or educational.
