I have seen a lot of people upload videos referring to Casey's setup. But you failed to mention something that he mentions when asked about equipment, every single time : The equipment doesn't matter. The story is all that matters! But I do believe you are spot on with all the technical stuff he uses

If you're thinking Casey Neistat's videos are about the gear, you haven't understood why his videos are so great. The story telling, editing and his personality set him apart from other vloggers. Look at other KZbinrs and their videos always feel the same. Casey somehow always has new ideas.

+MeisterYodarkus Sure, the story is the most important part of his videos. I think everyone get's that. But the bottom line is he still chooses what gear he uses for a reason. He doesn't just shoot with whatever. That's why he's still constantly testing out new gear. My aim is to try to explain the features in the gear that he has chosen to use, because it's what helps him story tell more efficiently.

In addition to what CamCrunch said, Casey also relies on his equipment to an extent, as he was the original person who created this "revolutionary" vlogging setup, which played such a big part in his growth on KZbin.

Great video. I also have the 10-18mm. I love how silent it is but I miss zoom capabilities for creative shots. I use 18-135mm for those shots but it's very noisy. Can you recommend any zoom lens, preferably an STM lens that has the best of both worlds? Thanks!

If you need IS, the Canon 16-35 f/2.8 is really nice. If not, the Canon 11-24 f/4 isn't a bad alternative. If you need more zoom, you're going to sacrifice the wide angle shots. That being said, the 24-70 f/4 IS II is a fantastic lens in that sweet spot wide-ish to zoom range. And it has a macro mode.

True but with enough wide angle you probably get used to it . I shoot Nikon so going Canon is not really logical

I also believe he uses the 10-18 more because a few videos back, he went into a store to buy a new 10-18 because he had damaged the one he was using. I really like that wide angle lens and have thought about getting it, I just need to cough up $300 for it. lol Cool video, man. :)

+Vic Basically he uses filters. Some programs like FCPX have build in filters, but you can buy additional plug ins for any descent editing program. Think of it like Instagram filters.

+Vic Wow, I'm sorry I never got back this this! I use RGB curves for my color grading! You can adjust curves in most editing software.

Hi, do you know Casey's video settings at 70D? A+ for automatic mode or M (= manual), 25fps vs. 50fps?

I think he shoots in manuell mode (because Automatic Mode is for Noobs :D) with 25fps (because it looks more cinematic)
