Casey, we need more of this. Literal step by steps on fusion. What may seem obvious to some, isn't to others so this is great - thank you!

Very good starting point - I "learnt" Fusion by myself with trial and error and this has given me some important points. Looking forward to watching other parts.

Heck yeah! I've used Premiere for years and I feel pretty confident in it, though I'm certainly no expert. But as soon as I discovered Resolve, I felt like I struck gold. I honestly like it better than Premiere, everything feels so clean and easy to find, the layout is familiar enough to Premiere, but somehow....just better lol. And the fact that it's not $20 a month helps too!

I've seen a lot vids about RESOLVE preparing my bands video releases. Fusion is intriguing. THIS video, that is unbelievable important in understanding the basic logic of RESOLVEs Fusion page. Thank you!

I'm an intermediate user of After Effects. When I fired up Fusion and tried to use the node system I was SO lost, but this clears up a lot! Gonna be weird to remember to drag out masks and text as their own node and not a modifier to a layer, but I definitely see the potential behind the concept. Great video, can't wait to watch the longer version.

You did a terrific job in explaining and demonstrating some basic things in FUSION. What I particularly liked was that you:1) explained the colors for the links; and 2) you said to view the Fusion elements as a Flow chart instead of Layers. I have only worked with layers in PhotoShop and various video editors such as Cyberlink. The only time I used flow charts was in creating computer programs(apps). Thinking differently as how to view the screen where editing/changes are made makes it easier to get one's "head around" the Fusion way of doing things. A big THANKS and Thumbs up.

Thanks for this really clear explanation Casey! I've looked for a very frustrating half an hour to find a super basic video on what everything actually is and how they work together, so glad to finally find yours! Super appreciated! Thankyou thankyou thankyou! (FYI I was looking for the wrong words apparently, I was searching for 'alpha input output Davinci resolve' cuz thats what I heard it being referred to)

Thank you so much!!! Quick, simple, and to the point. I've been using DvR for months but was too intimidated to try anything in Fusion... but this makes so much sense, and I love the quick and simple, to the point tutorial. Most other tutorials were 30 minutes to an hour or more, this was perfect, just what I needed, without extra fluff.

You are the best. Thought I had a basic understanding of Fusion and nodes but glad I watched anyway. This just helped me grasp it even more. I haven't tackled a project using Resolve yet. Still using Power Director. Question, can we add titles under the Fusion toolbar icons. Sucks to have to hover over them to know what is does. Not all the pics are self explanatory for a beginner.

Great, as always, Casey. A perfect short intro. BUT - Why? I am sure there is / are very good reasons to do this work in Fusion as opposed to on the Edit page. But I think we could do everything you just did - Text / Blur / Mask - on the Edit page. What is the BIG reason we use the Fusion page? Especially for "simple" effects like this...? Thanks again!

Great work always appreciate the time you take to teach us. I was wondering if you have a video or maybe could make on on how to setup videos so they look like a news show with windows and scrolling new tickers and maybe even stock market stuff running on the side? Or anyone that reads this maybe can link a tutorial they know of? Thanks!!

this is great, one questsion. how do you incorporate the timing of it all? for example, what if you wanted the text to show-up a certain time in the timeline? would you do that in the edit page? thanks in advance.

Hey Casey. Love your tutorials. I'm really trying to work more with animating text. I'm trying to find different ways to make it seem to interact with the live-action. One thing I would love to do is shatter text. After Effects seems to be able to do it but I can't find anything on Davinci/Fusion. Can you help?

awesome vid. May I ask, what screen capture software did you use? How do you keep such high resolution and crispness when you zoom in on the screen software? and what mouse cursor did you use? I also do tutorial vids for my job, but struggle with these three things.
