It seems like it would have been a lot more efficient to bring in (if available!) a shredding machine and roll off containers to shred those vehicles and put the shredded material into the containers for carting out. The next biggest problem (and possibly insurmountable) is oil and other fluids coming from the shredded engines, axles etc. Maybe bring up the idea to the organizers?

It is beyond a crying shame how people trash the landscape. The fact that everyone else has to expend time, money, and resources to do this is sad. I've been on many clean-ups on land and water, as well as other kinds of habitat events, and I'm not sure we are winning? The people that show up for these clean-ups, are not the ones that should be cleaning it up ... but enforcement is just so difficult. That was a tremendous effort by all who participated. There is a hierarchy with homeless people. Those with running vehicles are "almost" not homeless, some do work and sometimes manage to recover. That is the reason why so many of these vehicles look like repairs had been started. There is a real desperation amongst these people to not end up with a car that does not run because then they are just a moment away from being on the street for real.
