You’ve probably answered this 100x by what do you do with the change from your transactions? Do you throw it in a giant tub for a rainy day or keep it on your to avoid change later.. that’s kind of the hardest part about a cash based budget for me is what to do with the change.

This might be a stupid question but I see in almost all the cash stuffing envelopes I watch, they put down ADOBE SUITE but I have no idea what that is? So can you please explain what an ADOBE SUITE is? Ohh and debt snowball,is that like emergency funds kind of thing?
@alyssamakeseverything5 жыл бұрын
Yes! Adobe suite is just a monthly subscription I pay for Photoshop. It includes a few other programs but the only one I use is photoshop. I use that for my thumbnails for my videos as well as a few things for my "day job". The debt snowball is the method Dave Ramsey recommends for paying off your debt. You pay the minimum payment on all of your debts and then take any and all extra money you can find and attack that smallest debt. Then once that's paid off you take the amount you were paying on that smaller debt plus anything else you can scrape up and pay it on the second smallest, etc. etc!
@ashleesarahi6 жыл бұрын
I have a question, what if a random expense you needed came up that you don't necessarily have a cash envelope for, ex. a parking ticket, random bill, needing something for work etc., where would you take the cash out from if you can't necessarily wait until the next pay check to pay for it?
@Ashleynicole-fk5kx6 жыл бұрын
Ashlee Escobar I wondered the same... but from what i’ve gathered watching a few of the videos. this system has what are called “baby steps” and baby step number 1 is to have $1000 saved for emergencies in a savings account that you don’t touch for things like that. but you have to really be strict on what is considered an emergency.. a parking ticket maybe you would use car maintenance funds if you had enough in the envelope. i remember her saying an emergency isn’t an oil change or your son needing soccer cleats. then after that you move into baby step 2 which is where the “debt snowball” happens and you start paying off your debts. once you pay off all debts you move into step 3 etc. but a big part of the envelope system is you’re not supposed to take money out of them if it’s not for what it’s supposed to be for. you’re not supposed to borrow from other envelopes or give and take to make room for things. if you need a shirt for work you would take it out of clothes etc. or you would just wait until the next paycheck when you can make room for it. i also heard them say if you go to the grocery store and forget the envelope don’t even just take $20 from the gas envelope and go home and replace it they say to turn around and go and grab the proper envelope. they say the best way to have success is to be strict about it and what you say is going in an envelope is final. it’s all very interesting.

I follow the Dave Ramsey baby steps (I have a video on my channel explaining this), and I'm on step #2. So I have finished my starter emergency savings fund of $1000 and now I am working to pay off my debt as quickly as I can. Once I am debt free (probably in a year in a half-two years) I will resume saving and will be able to save up super quickly because I will have zero debt. In Dave Ramsey's plan he teaches you that your most powerful wealth-building tool is your income, and you can't efficiently build wealth while part of your income is still being used up by payments on things like a car, credit card, student loans, etc.

I better believe I'm on that Spotify for students! 😂 I cancelled it for a while and then someone told me about that and I immediately signed back up haha. Instead of splitting the bill into $3 one paycheck and $2 the next I just do $5 from one and I try and remember not to take out the $5 from the next paycheck, but sometimes I forget!
