If you ever want to do a "Sand Bottle" decoration at home, when I was little I would use salt instead of sand! (Which is pretty consistent with this channel) Put some fine salt in a plastic plate, grab a chalk (yes, the colored ones for painting in chalkboard) and scrub the salt with it until the salt is colored! You can make whichever color you like and layer it and it doesn't stick to the bottle because salt doesn't have static! I would love if they see this and try it someday! Because what's better than Jackie and Sika doing Sand Bottles? JACKIE AND SIKA DOING SALT BOTTLES! YES!

From a long-time embroiderer: to separate out a strand of floss, hold the floss about a centimeter or so from the end, with the end sticking up. Pick one strand and grip it between the thumb and forefinger of your other hand. Hold the floss (all 6 strands) firmly but not too tight, and pull the one strand you selected upwards. The rest of the floss will bunch up underneath your hand, and you'll swear it's getting knotted and snarled, but it's not. Keep pulling, slow and steady. When the strand you selected comes all the way out, the rest of the floss will fall back down. If it's a little curled, you can straighten it easily. You can separate all six strands that way; it works like a charm, no need for both hands and your teeth, nor for careful untwisting while you pull. :)
@harvestkitty
@harvestkitty 2 жыл бұрын
While that's a very useful and valid tip for most decent brands of floss, some of the really cheap brands definitely knot and cause major issues no matter how you try to separate the threads.
@Marsbert
@Marsbert 2 жыл бұрын
I was coming to the comments to suggest this technique 👍 I will add though, that making sure your string is not cut too long will help it not getting tangled as easily.

I was allowed Scholastic books when I was in school 'cause academics (reading) were considered important to my dad. I kept the "tradition" going with my kids, I let them pick everything they wanted which is why my son had the complete collection of Captain Underpants. Toys'R Us was a big part of my kids childhood, so glad it's still here in Canada.

Protip for next time you do this, to avoid getting as much dust/small particles on the sides you could run the sand through a small filter that's damp or run a damp papertowel over the sand and just allow it to dry (shouldn't take long if you don't saturate it).

To date myself - I remember when Toys-R-Us was awesome! They are closed here in the US, at least in Utah. I also remember the Scholastic book fair every year at school - it was also AMAZING! Good job on the sewing! The zipper, you line the end of the pull near the end of what you are zipping and can snip that extra off if needed. the stopper end I just tuck in if I have extra.

I picked up a metal needle at the age of 5 in kindy. They were just a little bigger than normal needles. We practiced cross stitching on patches of checkered fabric. Teaches fine motor skills. :D

I definitely remembered the Scholastic book orders when I was in school, I’ve gotten quite a bit of stuff from it that I actually still have now after almost a decade for me😸😸😸😸😸😸😸😸😸

My girlfriend and I were in Montreal in November of 2018 as I was on a work trip. When I was working she took the subway to the nearest Toysrus, and at this point all the US stores had closed earlier that year. She said it was so trippy being back in a Toysrus. The sign on the store even said Jeffery is here to stay and here to play. Later on in that trip we were in another store and the local radio was playing an ad for toysrus with the jingle as part of the start of the holiday season. And again it was so trippy hearing that song again but so cool too. I loved the NYC store and was sad when it went out.

Sika, I do like your hairstyle!! 💖 It really suits you!! 🤗 Both colorful kits that allow for creativity. 🌈 Kids would enjoy them!! 👍 However, from prior experience, the sand will become one with your abode!! 😉😂

I really hope Jackie has a lefty pair of scissors for Sika. I bought mine on Amazon, but I saw them in Michaels last time I went. They are life changing! The short description is that when you use scissors, you naturally push inward with your thumb and pull outward with you other fingers. If you use the "wrong" hand, that separates the blades and makes it harder to cut anything.

I love your craft reviews and I especially look forward to your clay tutorials especially the dragon and little environment ones. Watching your videos makes me happy. ❤️🌈🤪
