Today we will be testing a $45 candy kit that says it would teach us the science behind candy-making. Is this craft kit worth it? Let's unbox and review to see if this homemade diy gummy and candy kit is worth it so that you don't waste your monies! I got this kit from Amazon, but recently it was much cheaper from ToysRus.

The reason I was told to avoid drinking hot tap water was due to the possible bacteria/algae growth in sitting water. The heater doesn't get hot enough to boil water and kill germs and unless you have a busy household running lots of hot water constantly the combination of warm and stagnant water can mimic a human body and is perfect for breeding germs.

Super easy and environmentally friendly. A lot of people are using them in the US nowadays.

@kokopuppy57342
@kokopuppy57342 3 жыл бұрын
So I researched it and the water in the community pipes is safe in most places. The issue comes to pipes in your house and sediment builds up in your hot water tank. People are supposed to drain the hot water tank regularly to clear out that sediment but almost no one does that. The result is consuming some of that gunk. If you live in a newer house with no lead pipes and you clean your hot water tank the water is safe.

Gelatin smells like ass because its made of skin and bones. To reuse your mold, agar is lovely to make gummies with. Tons of recipes online and its made of seaweed! Also, add your colorant and flavor after removing the sugar from the heat and absolutely do not touch the hot sugar mixture! Just fill the pot with a little water, cover, and simmer to dissolve all the hardened bits of sugar gunk. Love you!

As someone who cooks a lot, I can tell you gelatin *ALWAYS* stinks, especially when it's hot and liquefied. That's because it's made from pork and cow bones and skins (and sometimes fish bladders! yummy) so when you heat it up and liquefy it, you release the leathery/meaty aroma along with the fruit flavor and they don't always mix well. Commercial Jell-o uses a lot of fragrance to mask it which is why they don't taste as strong as they smell. If you want to chase people out of your house, boil a bunch of sheet gelatin.

Yes straight up tap water is generally fine, but when your hot water heater heats it up and pumps it through the house it can leech from the pipes. THAT is the issue she warned about. Not taking tap water straight up to drink or taking tap water and heating it over a stove/in a kettle/etc. Just hot water straight from the tap is considered unsafe.

Don't let the salt fool you, In this episode, Jackie learned that gelatin smells bad. It's incredibly educational. Also, that's how real cook books for chefs work. It's just a list of ingredients and percentages and "french word" method. I bought a baking textbook and they had a history lesson and methods on a completely other section. More sciency things are like that where they have the information one place, and fun experiment to do with teacher as a sidenote, or in the upper levels anoher book you're expected to buy. Aren't the best learning experiences the ones that get you accustomed to learning?
