Ive had a problem with print output for a while now and was considering replacing the printer. As a last resort i thought I'd take a quick look on KZbin to see if there was a fix - and I came across your video. So I tried your advice and hey-ho it's sorted it out...what a star you are buddy! We all talk about being more environmentally friendly etc, but you never get anything on the manufacturers websites with info like this that could directly affect waste. Thanks again!

Thank you Boss! I did all as per troubleshoot instruction. Picture on cleaning LED strip was very unclear...and I just cleaned the wrong side (the plastic side). I cleaned the actual LED strip just like you said and ran the Auto register as well. Don't know which one helped, but the 10yo printer is back to life.

Took a chance to search the net and came across your video. Worked great. Why can't this be a FAQ on the Brother site. The list kept changing, I couldn't keep up. But it works with 90%+ of Brother color "LED" Laser printers.. You must check that your color laser is "LED type".

Hey Carlos! Thanks for posting. Sadly for me, the fix didn't work. My pages are still streaking and they are also curling on the right side, running all the way up and down. The drums and cartridges are around 88%, the belt is around 30% (low but should be usable), and the fuse/fuse kit is also around 50%. Also, I've done the recalibration but whenever I try to save the configuration, it fails, so not sure what to try/do next.

When I go thru the menu I get the message that I need to replace the fuser. I figured out what that is and ordered it. But I am not finding any fact sheet or how to video for my printer. YOU have the toner series, TN-210. Do you know how to access it? I am blocked in one part to get it all done.

I don't see the mfc model numbers this will help i have an older brother mfc 9560 cdw that i love but it's no longer manufactured so hard to find information for the problem i am having. going to see if i can see this laser that you are cleaning and going to see if that will help the color streaks i am getting. i have moved and moved the printer several times and not sure if the movers shook or move it so much that has caused my lines. the toner cartridges are still almost full so I would like to try to keep them since replacing them is pretty costly. if you respond i'm not sure how to find the response so i'll try to keep checking hoping i will get any responses

Carlos, I justcompleted the setup for the printer, and everything was working perfectly. I was able to use the WiFi and print from my phone. However, when I tried to do the Firmware update, the printer froze: it started by having the on/off button flashing for like a minute, and then it showed the on/off button that the printer is on, however, the screen is completely black. right now, the on/off button is still on, but the printer's screen is off, and it does not connect to my computer anymore because it says that the printer is "off line". I’ve read some trouble shouting suggestions in your website to press the button for 20/30 secs, but it did not work; I unplugged the printer and left it like that for 5 min, but nothing… The button is green but the screen is still black. When I try to use the Network Connection repair Tool it shows “Diagnostic-code-(-1). Now the computer shows that the printer is not connected by wifi. I tried to reconnect it but it was useless ( I turned on/off the router, I reconnected the printer to my computer). NOTHING .... I was so happy I got the printer working, now I am so very dissapointed. Can you please help me fix the problem please?

I have a MFC 9340CDW, recently encountered faint or ghost prints from the black ink. All the other colors print well, without smudging. I have replaced the toner and drum, and am still encountering this issue. After viewing your video, I tried te steps you recommended and upon trying to auto register the printer give me an error that auto registration failed. I searched what that meant and the brother website recommends to replace the Belt transfer Unit. What do you think I should do or did I miss out anything?

Hi Carlos. I have a Brother MFC-9340CDW and it's printing with a light faded vertical stripe thru out the whole page on all colors. I created a test page on Photoshop with 3 rectangular with the 3 primary colors, yellow, magenta and cyan, and the problem happens one all tree colors. Carlos - thank you for a thorough tutorial. I'm struggling with my MFC-9130CW. I've replaced the drums; I've cleaned the LED emitters (as you demonstrated); I've changed ink and done all the "internal" diagnostics. I'm still getting very strange lines across the page. I do not know what else to do other than buy another printer (which I don't want to do). Any other ideas?

This is great, and I've definitely narrowed it down to the black LED being the cause of my print problem (a 1/2" white streak through any solid areas, and distorted print in the same areas). I've replaced every other item except the fuser, and it looks brand new. I've got under 8500 pages printed and my belt is clean and shows 60% life, and the Fuser/PF kit each show 95% life. The problem is only happening on black, and yes, I replaced toner and even the drum units. Always 100% Brother products used. So there's apparently some damage to the LED. How easy is it to replace one?

Sadly, it actually is a VERY hard part to replace. On just about all the led laser models because you will need to take the machine apart down to the controller board and spring sets. Very time consuming. Also finding the led print head new is a pickle. I think it be cheaper to find a used model on ebay than doing that repair.

FOLLOW-UP: When I printed a narrow 1" block of each color I noticed CMY were solid and it was only black that had the missing area. So it wasn't the fuser. It occurred to me that I replaced the BLK drum, but not the others, and maybe it was the OTHERS that were causing the issue, somehow pulling the un-fused black away. I replaced the rest (might as well, they were all in the replacement package), and suddenly the black block was 95% solid! So if you run into this, replace the ENTIRE set of drums, not just the single color. Thanks Carlos for the calibration/registration instructions too.

If the unit is 2 weeks old, I recommend replacing. Should still have warranty .sounds like the roller has an issue. 2 weeks is tooooo soon for an issue.

Unfortunately, it didn't work for me. Just one color is not working (magenta). Based on your description, it sounds like it could be not enough heat getting to that toner cartridge? Are you using genuine brother toner? Many generics do not work well with LED printers. They don't have the light sensitive particles in the toner which brother uses for the LED printers.

I should add: magenta stopped working. Yesterday, I reloaded the drivers and reset the printer, and it started working again. But then this morning (without touching the printer other than turning it off and on), magenta was not working again. Any ideas?

Dirty drum. Take it out, use an alcohol wipe and get the build up off. Wait until it dries and reinsert.

It's a waste of time. Videos that go past 5 mins have huge viewer drops. So I try to do most I can in little time. And this one went 6 min. Printing the bad test sheet was what caused me to do video showing others the fix. But you see bad and fix results at end.
