I agree with suspecting some of these delivery thefts are set up at the place where orders are placed, in the warehouses the items are picked, packaged and addressed. Even the drivers could be involved in informing the thieves personal info for a cut on the sold stolen items. In the city I live in Amazon driver's have been followed and thefts have been attemped. People need to track their packages thru text or email, have them dropped off at their place of employment or just pick them up at UPS or FedEx shops.

Is the "Christmas deal" really worth risking having your product stolen? If not, let the deal pass by (most of the 'Black Friday deals' are fake discounts, anyway). PROTIP: Consistently watch the price of a random item before and after the sale. Only diligent research like that (outside of uncovering old price tags) is enough to prove a special price isn't that 'special', and as such, fake.

UPS dropped a package on my porch that I didn't order. Eight minutes later a guy with a Fedex vest and a hood pulled over his face grabbed the package a drove away. The police said it happens every day. Then we found out that it was paid for with a credit card that was taken out in my name without my knowledge. This is big business.

Ordering online led to store closures. Now, stores are closed, leading to more online shopping. More store closures, because of increasing theft. Increasing online ordering. Now stealing the online deliveries because there are no stores, and it's the path of least resistance. Maybe we should just go back to in store shopping even with the extra security measures, employ more people for customer service. I work retail the hours we have to give towards payroll for customer service are in direct proportion to the customers coming through the door and spending in-store. More in store customers = more payroll for customer service=more jobs= stores staying open. Plus, your packages are not being stolen.

“Escape From New York” was fiction at one time. You can get Amazon packages delivered to drop sites, like stores or lock boxes. If I order something expensive, I have it delivered to a drop site, like a UPS store, or a local participating store. Not as convenient but it’s better than it sitting on your porch.

I know from working in that scene that a LOT of scams and theft get run through delivery and shipping services. Like you say, get it delivered straight to a postal depot or secure collection centre.
