The low power consumption of this old-school casio module would make a perfect fit for solar. Casio have the technology available. I personally would rather see a MIP display being applied to a watch such as this, instead of solar (if I had to choose one technology over the other). It won't fit the 'vintage' lineup though.

I really want to get the gold color-way and add a gold flat link strap on it. Just not sure if it's worth the extra price over a gold A700...

I hear ya. The A700 is a solid pick, too; I have the silver model with the black bezel and enjoy that one, as well, even though it doesn't get much wrist time these days. It was worth it for me to have the steel upgrade, but you can't go wrong with either. Cheers!

Nice, Vide, this model is quite expensive as well going for $160 USD, because it's solid stainless steel, like how some of them were originally from the mid 70's before they turned to cheap plastic and resin yea you def. want that REAL QUALITY STEEL and not that scrap steel they used later to save production costs, it's a BEAUTY for A DIGIGAL WATCH, which most people think are disposable throwAWAYS, I'm glad CAsio came around to makin this and people like you doing this review, you could submerge it and it'll survive but I wouldn't subject it to that, or you could shower with it but I wouldn't , I've heard many people doing it with the cheaper models with no problems, it's worth it and yes it'll be collectible in the future because it's such a quality piece, like you alluded to some models go out of production and the demand returns for them STRONGLY

Absolutely! I've seen other folks do that, and it looks sharp. I think the 158 or 168 bracelet would be an easy swap.

Hmm, I haven't heard that, but I do see that it's currently out of stock on the Casio website. I'd sign up for restock notifications or snag it elsewhere, probably. I'm probably gonna pick one of these up, tho, it would be such a better watch if it had a 10 bar WR rating, I'm sure I'll buy this and next year they'll have a 10 bar model lol but I think their "WR" rating is 3 bar

Not super familiar with that model, but at a glance, I'm thinking perhaps not when I saw the listed band width. I believe people do often switch it out for the band on the A700 or A168, though.
