I forgot to mention it earlier, but the JaysandKays Bullbars for the G-Shock DW5600 also happen to fit on the AE1200 model. I put a silver BullBar on my Black AE1200 with yellow accents, and I put a black BullBar on the other black one.

I have two of these, a black one and the silvertoned one in this video. I purchased a dark blue Casio W218-H specifically for its matching dark blue band to put on the silver colored watch. Lastly, I put a JaysAndKays silver BullBar on it that was made to fit a G-Shock DW-5600E. Yes, the housing for the G-Square is the same size as the AE-1200, and the BullBar fits perfectly. The black watch I haven't done anything with. Yet. I have some lighting gels on order that I'm going to cut to size and put in front of the module to alter the color of the display from the boring grayish color that to is now, to whichever of nine colors looks best. Then again, with a black watch, everything looks best, so it may be a tough choice. I love these Casio squares. Always have. Probably always will. I was a child of the 70s and grew up in the 80s, so things like this were definitely in style when I was old enough to have some kind of part time job and my own money. But, unlike now, smaller watches were in style back then. Not much smaller, but still smaller like in the neighborhood of 35-40mm. I also have the round equivalent to this watch three times, the AE-1000, a silvertoned one like this but with a slightly different band, a medium gray one, and a dark gray one, both with black resin bands. For some reason, I don't wear the round ones nearly as often as I thought I would. But those square ones, every day I wear either one of those or my G-SQUARE.

You're spot on about the nostalgia feel, I bought the calculator and simple A164 for the same reasons. I used to drool over them when I was growing up in the 90's 😊 I did a similar watch that was featured in the movie Mine, I actually think they use the same module with just the screen being slightly different Oh and the analog subdial gives you the ability to see your home time in every function so it's actually very useful

@@JustBlueFish I think that the DATE & TIME on this CASIO AE1200 watch should be a larger size. There is some wasted real estate space on this watch. The DATE and TIME on the CASIO model W96H-1BV is a much larger size. I can see the TIME on it easily from 1 meter away ! The CASIO W96H-1BV is my favorite digital watch because it shows the TIME, DATE, DAY and YEAR all on the face without having to push any buttons for selection. You look at this watch and it shows everything all at once.... though the CASIO AE1200 watch is better when traveling to different countries. I do like the CASIO AE1200 and decided to buy one because of it's many features. I am going to modify it with the all metal SKXmod company watch kit.

I have a few of these, one black with yellow exterior lettering, a somewhat yellosish, goldish, amberish LCD, black segments and a grenn world map, a second black one with a gray LCD, black segments and black world map, and the silver model shown in this video. On any given day,, I'll be wearing one of those three, occasionally switching things up with any one of the many other Casios that I have. Yep, Casio is my brand of choice, and it's actually pretty rare to see me with some other brand. I love these AE1200s so much that I even have a few of their Chinese clones, SKMEI models 1373 or 1382. I also have a couple moreof the SKMEI watches on order specifically for their metal bands. Yes, SKMEI has cloned the Casio AE1200 and one of their variants has a steel bracelet that was specifically designed to match the curvature of the lugs of this watch. They have been known to make the end of their bracelets only compatible with their own watches though, so it remains to be seen if their bracelet will actually fit my Casio. I'm really hopeful that it will, but if it doesn't, then I just have two more SKMEI watches that combined cost me less than $20 with shipping included. Anyway, it would be great to have a black AE1200 with a black SS bracelet that looks like it belongs there. LONG LIVE THE AE1200!!!!!!!

as a kid, i don't think i had any interests in casios. i think i was more of a timex child. as i got older, i moved on to those fancy quartz analogue fashion watches. the funny thing is, it's only now i've begun to appreciate and like these casios and its g-shock cousins.

I have a watch collection that sums up to 10,000 dollars. The same great feeling i get from my breitling on special occasions, my citizen promaster sky at the office, i get from this watch when i'm on a day off wearing a T-shirt, shorts and a hat.. It fits my outfit, lifestyle and the activities that i am doing and get lots of compliments on it. I do too. I've had more Casios than anything else. Big fan of Casio here. If I remember correctly, my first watch was a Casio as a Christmas gift when I was probably 12 or 13.

My daily watch is a SARW025 Seiko but Casio are fun watches. Will one day pick up a calculator watch, not that I need one but just for fun.

These are very cool watches for the money. Nostalgic and feature filled. My only dislike on these is the bracelet. They scratch so easily that in a matter of days or weeks it can be extremely beat up looking. Then again it’s kind of designed as a throw away watch as opposed to a luxury or collector piece.

I wonder if you could easily restore the finish with a scotchbrite or something, or if it’s not worth the trouble. I’ve never tried to restore a brush finish before.

I'm going to carefully polish off those gimmicky "Illuminator/World Time" markings with my dremel. Those are the only things that are a little bit "really?" about the whole thing but it still feels fresh on a hot day with a gulf blue dickies work shirt!

If you haven’t done so already, I’ve heard that you can use fingernail polish remover (acetone) to remove the words without the risk of your Dremel gouging the heck out of the case.

I bet you're really disappointed that you can't remove the 10 year battery sign as well.

@@cliffwheeler7357 Sure you can. Take the four screws off the back and remove the cover. Carefully remove the module and put it aside. Tip the housing over and that whole black panel falls right out. Use acetone nail polish to remove the lettering. Put the whole front panel back in. While you're in there, put a sheet of camera lighting gel in that has been cut to shape and size. These gels come in many colors so you have a high degree of personalization available. Put that piece of precut gel in next. Put the module back in. Put the back cover on and tighten the screws. Turn the watch over and enjoy your custom color display with whatever lettering you want to delete gone.
