The solvents in the polish (probably ethyl acetate) started to dissolve the styrofoam. styrofoam is polystyrene with air bubbles in it to make it so light. As the polystyrene dissolved in the ethyl acetate the trapped air was released and bubbled through the nail polish - that's why it foamed up and for the same reason the cup fell apart 😚

This video was exactly what I needed! I've been getting more into vitamin c and antioxidant products to help boost my sunscreen's efficacy and help with my post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation, but I've run into some issues with products pilling up on my face. I also read about the niacinimide and vitamin c thing and got all scared because the cleanser i was using had 2% niacinimide 🤣 good to know i wasn't destroying my skin when I used vitamin c afterward!

First, I was told that if I had clumpy nail polish that I could dilute it and smooth it out with nail polish remover. It works really well but there was this one time that was really shocking lol. I had put the nail polish remover in the bottle and went to shake it up, then all of a sudden the bottle shattered everywhere!!! Throwing thick glass shards and frkn nail polish everywhere!! The second freak thing that happened was when I decided to put on some fake nails and as I was going to place the nail glue, a drop of glue fell on my sweatpants and burned a hole right through a created a little puff of smoke!!!💨 It was the weirdest thing I’d ever experienced using cosmetics!! Hi Cassandra. Can you make a video about day cream/night cream? Is it really necessary to have 2 different creams for day and night? Or is it just marketing gimmick the way eye cream is? Thank you!
@faithruntz29693 жыл бұрын
It’s absolutely all marketing love. Day creams are typically a lighter formula and night creams are thicker to work to absorb while you’re sleeping but say you have really dry skin, you could benefit from that thick night cream during the day if you think your skin will tolerate it! I’ll use an eye cream all over my face because it’s just what?! An overpriced moisturizer!

I was taught to always apply vitamin C first. Then I apply my HA serum then a serum that gets rid of sun damage spots under the skin. After they absorb I use a moisturizing sunscreen. Is this right? At night essence or glycolic acid toner, HA serum, lately a brightening serum from Follain, niacinamide and usually neutrogena rapid wrinkle repair retinol night moisturizer. I'm hoping that this is correct. I try to go from thinnest to thickest. Should I change when I apply the HA? Also some nights I'll use a different moisturizer and add a couple of drops of facial oil in it. If anyone reads this and can help me I'd appreciate it 😊💕
@kam04063 жыл бұрын
That looks like it would work very well. As long as our products are not pilling, it sounds like you are doing fine. I use my hyaluronic acid first because I like to apply that while my skin is still damp. Then I apply my vitamin c serum, then my moisturizer and then my tinted sunscreen. I try to allow the moisturizer a few minutes to absorb before putting on sunscreen and makeup. I will even use a hairdryer to help dry my face as I find it needs to be completely dry before applying sunscreen so it will create an even layer across my skin. At night, I only use retin-a and an azelaic acid. The azelaic acid has a tendency to pill up, which is frustrating. I try and use the smallest amount over the retin-a. Sometimes I apply a moisturizer over this without too much of a problem.
@itsjustjill3 жыл бұрын
@@kam0406 Thanks. I agree about the HA being applied to damp skin. So here's the thing kinda like why I was confused. I used to always apply HA first in the mornings then I learned that C should be applied first. I didn't switch it up right away. I was using Beauty Stat's vitamin C and it's a very different consistency and gets weird if it's applied over anything else and then doesn't absorb well. Even with the liquid C I use now I apply to a semi damp skin wait a second then I apply my HA to damp skin (from being slightly damp then adding the C serum) so far its working out really well. Thank you for sharing your routine 🙏 😊 ❤

Hi Cassandra. Thank you for this! ❤️ I am using a normal facewash and following it with 7% glycolic toner at night, then a 10% vitamin c/5% niacinamide/HA serum. I follow it up with Nature republic mild cica moisturizer (it's pretty watery) and seal it with ayurvedic facial oil. Is it correct or am I doing anything contradictory with the moisturizer and oil step? My skin is fine and hasn't reacted negatively.
@Acidfunkish3 жыл бұрын
Seems totally fine, as long as none of the products are separating or pilling up or anything. You usually get more out of your acids when you use them around 30+ min before you apply anything else, if you can. And you could choose to use the vit C during the day. From my limited understanding, I think vit C as an antioxidant is especially good for during the day, under your sunscreen. And your hyaluronic acid serum for both day and night, perhaps?

Is there any app that really helps you with your skincare routine? So that it is as easy and time-saving as possible?? I know there are apps where you can create plans for different times of the day, but I don't know of any app where you can scan your products, or enter the ingredients, create multiple routines, and if something in that routine doesn't fit together, then one Warning appears. Or where you can scan your products and then recommendations for use appear (e.g. "Should not be used with niacinamide, we recommend this product in the morning and niacinamide in the evening"). Or what would also be fantastic is that all of your skincare products are scanned and a plan is created. Or you could do it so that in the evening before your routine you scan all the products you would like to use, and the app either gives the green light if everything fits together, or alarms if something doesn't fit. The app could instead make a recommendation for a different product, because the app knows what you have because you have scanned everything that is in the cupboard... The whole thing could be combined with videos from Cassandra. Educational videos or explanatory videos. I would pay a one-off fee for this, or possibly a monthly amount. Are there any comparable apps???

Hi Cassandra! Love your channel! Your information is great and thorough and I’ve learned a lot. I have two questions - 1 I’ve been using Wishtrend’s green tea enzyme cleaner and i have definitely noticed that my skin ends up nearly squeaky (ok a little squeaky) and I’m wondering if this means I should not be using it? My skin doesn’t feel dry after, and i use toner (unscented from i think klairs), a calming serum (ELMT), vit c drops (klairs), the rich moist moisturizer (klairs) and finally sunscreen (Elta MD clear). So in the end my skin feels great, but should i switch out and try a different cleanser now and again? Second question, or more of a request - can you please do a video about older skin and how its different from younger skin? Post-menopausal and how the hormone changes can affect your skin and what to watch out for? Which products to use or consider not using? What is especially good to remember for your routine? Maybe even throw in some rosacea/ sensitive skin advice in there? I looked back but so far haven’t seen much on this topic. Thanks so much! You are lovely!

Syrofoam is just crazy. I used to study architecture and once I used sytrofoam for some elements of my model. The glue (nothing too potent) ate away thruouh the syrofoam leavibg some gunky mess. Ofc I was gluing this model on the night before, and only noticed this reaction happened the next day in the morning. Styrofoam is melted by even the mildest solvents and I bet some of them are in the nail polish. Also I once wanted to clean my makeup palette. It was dirty from broken eyeshadow. Silly me thought that nail polish remover(acetone free) would work great. Nope, it didnt. It melted the plastic.
