I have this knife and I like it. It’s is good quality. I agree that the handle is comfortable but not long enough for large hands.

Definitely a good looking knife, the curly birch handle is very cool. I don’t have any knives like that. Looking forward to you using it. ✌️

I absolutely love mine and yours to! The edge lasts pretty good and is very easy to get to scary sharp. My spine is very crisp. I have adventure sworn with ironwood handles as well as alot of joker knives and this is my go to. It just feels very good in my hands.

Great first look on this knife! Good to see you again. I have the old version of this knife, would you say it´s worth the upgrade?
@DGOutdoorLife
@DGOutdoorLife 3 жыл бұрын
Thanks. Wooden say its necessary to upgrade if you haven't broken your other knife in k720. Maybe if the steel was like CPM 3V or something like that.

Each time I look for I knife I’m afraid of the handle being too short, ... I have the bushlore and find the handle perfectly fitting my "big" hands, I didn't dare to buy the casström because the handle is only 11.5 not 12 like the condor and I hate when the handle is shorter than the diameter of my hand, but I really like the casström (sort of bushlore with sleipner steel) I tried to compare them on the video but you mostly aligned the blade tip, not the handles... hard decision may be I will buy a Dulo at the end (I can choose the handle length) I wish the manufacturer would make more 12/12.5cm handles depending on shape...

I am wondering how easy or hard is this Sleipner steel to sharpen ? Comparing to carbon steel for example.

I thought that Casström replaced the K720 steel because it was prone to chipping. 🤔
@DGOutdoorLife

I heard about that! My edge bent pretty ugly down by the handle but never chipped on me. Battonning it through frozen logs and stuff, never.

Which one of those 3, do you like to use more? Which one do you think is better for bushcraft tasks?

Hard to say i like all 3 but if I only take 1 to keep I think I'll go for the LT knife. Maybe I'll do a test on those side by side some day 😉

I was saying Hello Casstrom has changed his carbon steel reseeding to Sleipner steel like your knife I would like to buy it but I wanted to know from your experience if your knife rusts without maintenance? thank you
@DGOutdoorLife
@DGOutdoorLife 2 жыл бұрын
I do take good care of my knives so they don't rust. Maybe if I don't it will rust some I don't know to be honest.

I bought this knife in K720 Steel 18 month ago. It is in every aspect well made, the sheat is perfect, but witout the dangler it is not comfortable to carry on a belt. The K720 doesn't rust away, if you spend some time oiling it. Sleipner Steel is close to D2-Steel (german 1.2379) and i would not recommend a steel from this department for batoning and other activities which need a steel with very high shock absorbing quality. This knife is more or less single purpose: batoning and wood processing by hand. It is no slicer, für kitchen tasks in the field it is more or less useless. Every cheap middle or graeter Opinel works far better for fine cuts. For fishing or hunting it is a bad choice. The grip is too heavy, the blade is too light: bad balance. If you want to do batoning and prepare wood to make a fire, a longer, heavier blade will be better. Stay with simple carbon steels, like K720, 1095 or invest in A2. This knife looks fine, but it is in no departement a really good performer.

It improves hardness and wear/corrosion resistance, but a high amount of it decreases strength. 7,8% of Chromium: For tensile strength and Edge retention, and enhances corrosion resistance and wear resistance. 2,5% of Molybdenum: Increase Machinability and strength. 0,5% of Manganese: Increases hardness and brittleness. 0,9% Silicon: Improves Strength. 0,5% of Vanadium: Improves wear resistance and hardenability.
