A very nice review, I have a stainless steel version No 10. The Casstrom knives are well made and perform great outdoors tasks...

Great review of the Casstrom Lars Falt knife. May I ask what Fire Steel were you using in the video? Seems like it works good.

Nice knife! What did you use to oil the handle?

Is the handle made of (in English) curly birch? I like the knife, it looks like it can handle some abuse. Speaking of knives, what did you do with the knives you made? I thought they were nice.

Hi. Yes it is curly birch. I still have those. One that I will have for my self one I gave to my father and I have 2 left to have or give away I I feel like it 😉

If there is ice in the wood it might prove a test for edge retention and toughness?
@DGOutdoorLife

I really don't know how much it affects the edge. Maybe a bit more abuse on the edge.

What kind of fire steel is that you use?
@DGOutdoorLife
@DGOutdoorLife 2 жыл бұрын
Hi. It's a steel I did by from a person that sold this firesteel. So I don't know what kind it is only that it's a bit bigger and longer then the normals.

Then you have to step up the care for the knife. Do it every month or every day depending on how much you use it. I strop it or hone it in hand or flat on bench with a fine wet sharpening stone or a piece of frosty glass regulary (over the cooker in the kitchen at home) with some moisture on the edge. I also treat the blade and handle with wilmas kängskosmorning regulary. But if you have managed to get a lot of chips and knicks on the edge and four years has past you need a varierty of stones, and look over your safety routines. Look at some vidoes on knife care.

@@Macovic I've made a film clip where I actually sharpen my knife. I think it was a great result, but what I did was create a secondary beval. With that, I hope the sharpness stays better over time . But when it comes to tool maintenance, it is clearly something I have to do more than I do today.
