For the dear old Flag I die, Said the wounded drummer boy; Mother, press your lips to mine; O, they bring me peace and joy! 'Tis the last time on earth I shall ever see your face Mother take me to your heart, Let me die in your embrace. For the dear old Flag I die, Mother, dry your weeping eye; For the honor of our land And the dear old Flag I die, Do not mourn, my mother, dear, Every pang will soon be o'er; For I hear the angel band Calling from their starry shore; Now I see their banners wave In the light of perfect day, though 'tis hard to part with you, Yet I would not wish to stay. For the dear old Flag I die, Mother, dry your weeping eye; For the honor of our land And the dear old Flag I die. Farewell mother, Death's cold hand Weighs upon my spirit now, And I feel his blighting breath Fan my pallid cheek and brow. Closer! closer! to your heart, Let me feel that you are by, While my sight is growing dim, For the dear old Flag I die. For the dear old Flag I die, Mother, dry your weeping eye; For the honor of our land And the dear old Flag I die. The end

Always thought this song was a tragic one, not only in the context in which its used but the lyrics. It sounds like the person is mourning over the loss of a dead person they were close with, and saying how their body has reunited with the earth. However, the context for the death could be taking in many ways. Scenario A: The death was an accident, posssibly being impaled by a tree branch through a horrible fall, leaving blood dripping into the earth. Scenario B: the death was a suicide. Scenario C: It was a murder and the narrarator is the perpetrator, regretting their actions.

There's a very vocal part of the fandom that dislike HM2 and I just don't get it. It's a harder game than the first, but the strife culminating into this obliteration, this end of everything, feels like the point. It's scary, it's nihilistic, it's heartbreaking and it hits deep. To think that during the Cold War, we were really at a point in which this could have happened.
@evandaymon83037 ай бұрын
Mostly got to do with difficulty there some points where they could tone down to have better balancing and make it more tough but fair game. Like ricther's prison escape level and dead ahead where it just feels like game is telling you to go fuck yourself with those enemies that take cover but pop out to shoot you only that it's not one or two but four you got to be careful with. I dont hate this game just wish it was balanced better
@Cloud_9_reveiws3 ай бұрын
And in the year 2024 were at a higher risk of all out nuclear war far more than a chance of it happing in the cold war. The cold war was a 50 50 chance. This is like a 75% chance Russia fails their invasion and resort to more "drastic" measures.
@Cloud_9_reveiws3 ай бұрын
@evandaymon8303 the point of the game hitting that spike is bc it's trying to make u give up. To not put these people through the very end. Trying to tell u it's only going to get tougher now so u might as well just give up and save these characters the misery.

I want this to be played at my funeral. The opening sirens reflect the destructive torment I went through that railroaded me to my demise, followed by the main melody of the song, which I interpret as a reflection of the terrible heroin trip my life was, followed by sudden acceptance of the end knowing that there's a better place for me on the other side. "Leaving this world isn't as scary as it sounds...", indeed.
