You pronounce the names just fine and didnt sound stupid at all...Great info THANK U!!
@TheArtGearGuide3 жыл бұрын
Thank you so much, you are too kind. I am terrible at sounding words, our kids teachers suggested that I not do English homework’s because the kids were sounding certain words with an Irish Accent and sounds to the words which in turn was making them spell the words wrong 😂😂. But I’ve had a few comments on here about me not pronouncing words right, especially foreign words. Thing is when I was at school many years ago, because I was and still am Dyslexic, I was just branded stupid. In the UK we used to have a test called the 11 Plus which determined the type of High School you attendees after Primary School, my teachers told my Mum that I was just not going to pass it and it was probably best I not even sit it. From what I can remember my Mum wasn’t too happy and said it was there job to have prepared me for such exams so was her Son stupid or had they just neglected me because it was too much hard word. But I know the words I want to say, I have a decent vocabulary range and to be honest a lot of that is because of reading to my children every single day and night when they were babies and toddlers. So I use software to help me out a little bit when doing reviews but when I write an article it takes me such a long time because I try my best to correct the right Were, wear or Where etc. So I just include a caveat in the description from the get go that I’m going to pronounce words incorrectly 🤣🤣.

That is the perfect idea for these sets, if you have a friend or loved one who loves to draw landscapes or loves Urban sketching these individual sets as gifts would be amazing. I never thought of that, thank you for your wonderful comment and always supporting the channel. I am so lucky to have so many wonderful friends who follow the reviews.

I currently have several really super-nice pencil sets, but I am always interested in trying something new. I have been curious about Castle Arts Pencils, and after watching several online reviews (including yours and Lindsay's, actually), I decided to order two of the 24-sets to try. If I like them, I will go ahead and order the full 120 set. The sets I have chosen contain colors that I particularly like and know that I will use, so having duplicates of these would be no problem since Castle Arts does not yet offer single pencils. I couldn't tell from the Amazon ad what all the colors were, so I contacted Castle Arts directly through their website to see if they had a listing of the colors contained in their sets. To my surprise, they answered right away and sent me a link for the information I requested, along with a color chart that I could fill out if I wanted. I think the smaller sets would be good for anyone who might want to try this brand without paying for a big set that might not suit their needs. I haven't gotten my order yet, but I am look forward to receiving them.

How do these compare to spectrum noir colorblend?
@TheArtGearGuide3 жыл бұрын
Hi Lindsay, when I seen your question I got out the old Spectrum Noir pencils and Castle Art pencils and started to compare them. However, I still have a few Spectrum Noir ColourBlend pencils I was sent from them four years ago so I am not sure if their newer pencils are a different ingredient, so take into consideration I am comparing a pencil four years old. Both pencils are really quite similar, but I tried to give them a really thorough comparison test. It felt like to me that the Castle Arts pencils were slightly softer, not by much but definitely softer. It felt like to me that the Spectrum Noir core was slightly drier. I selected almost identical colors and tested them on Black paper and the Castle Arts pencils were far more opaque than the Spectrum Noir as they were much more translucent. I know that is not a good bad or indifferent trait as I know pencil artist have their own preference as to the type of look they require on dark paper. I was surprised at how similar they were but once under the microscope so to speak there was definitely some differences not necessarily for the good or worse of the pencil.

Thank you so much for this info. When the sets first came out I purchased a few of them .one thing I loved about them is that they have color names on the barrel. I owned the first 120 set, and gifted them to my granddaughter who loves them. The first set did not have the names , so these were great. Then the 2nd set of 120 came out, and I heard they have the names, and numbers. I assume these would be in the newer 120 set, but I really enjoyed guidance in these specific sets for help with color choices. Thank you again

I took a chance after my disaster with the original set and reordered the 120. They have improved in quality defo...however I got 2 of the same colour and obviously 1 missing...am waiting for their solution after several too and fro emails...I tried to find which colours were in each tin so I could make a note and use them accordingly...ty Harry..🥰

Update...They offered me 10% discount.After a lot of emails I told them I didn’t want the discount...I wanted what I’d paid for if they couldn’t help then send me a return label and I will send them back. They can’t do that as they have no way of doing this. Soo..They sent out a faulty product and I have to pay to return it? Be aware of this before you buy anything from them. 😳

Hi, can I try to see if I have this right and if I don’t please correct me. So you purchase the Castle Arts pencils when they first came out in the Black and Purple type tins and you had a disaster with those. After watching my review you purchased the 120 set, the quality was better than the other time you bought them. Of the 120 pencils you received two of the same Color meaning that you were therefor missing a Color. You contacted Castle and told them which Color you were missing and they didn’t send out a replacement Color, is this right?

@@TheArtGearGuide...yes...it got very silly in the end they have now replaced the entire set(which I bought from them directly) but only after I left a rant on their wall and told them I would let as many people as I could know through YT and FB...which I did. I have passed the set with 2 same colours onto someone who couldn’t buy them for themselves and received the new set on Friday. I haven’t opened them yet...I’m building myself up to it...🤣🤣..stay safe...🥰

Wow you are so lucky to have been sent every stand alone set. Some of them are amazing, but I found there are a lot of repeats and in the end I ended up returning the 120 Castle Arts set that I had because I found so many differences between the painted tip and the actual lead colour. A lot didn’t match up at all and I found with the Monet set that I bought it had direct duplicates that were already available in the 120 set. :(

I just had the Monet collection delivered (ordered before I watched this video) and there appears to be a pencil which is not in the main 120 set. The pencil is 18 Flesh Deep. Is this a pencil that used to be in the main set or a completely new colour? Also they do feel to have a thicker core. Is this true? Many thanks

what 24 set you you chose as an ‘all around’ type for people like me that don’t want to buy 120 or 72 pencils but still want to draw a range of things?

It honestly depends on what you think or plan on using them for. Plants and landscapes? Animals? Portraits of people? Buildings and sceneries? Anime and cartoon? Based on the answer you’ll realize you’ll need more yellows, reds, blues, greens and even pastels. :) I have various Castle Arts sets (I’m a sucker for packaging) so I can let you know what colors certain sets have more of.

Shame you didn't stay on the swatches for longer, their site shows them at an angle and cuts them off at the edges and there is no list. These sets are currently £9.99 on the CA website. These cheaper pencils need to start doing open stock.
@TheArtGearGuide2 жыл бұрын
The reason they can’t sell the pencils open stock is because as you point out, a 24 set of the pencils is £9.99, that equates to £0.42 per pencil, taking into consideration these companies have their pencils made in different factories, not their own like Derwent, Caran d’Ache and Faber Castell who run off thousands of their own brand pencils at will. The cheaper brands don’t have that ability. So for them to make money they would have to sell the pencils individually at the very least £1 plus postage which would equate to £25 for 24 pencils, making it cheaper to buy a set of 24 pencils as opposed to a handful of pencils. Hopefully, as certain companies like Castle grow and become more successful, they might make their own pencils in their own factory and be able to do their pencils open stock. I am not sure what you mean that I should have stayed on the swatches for longer? Do you mean that I should have shown the colors for longer on the video? If this is what you mean, if you check out my written review I always add still images of the swatch to the written review were you can click on the image enlarge it and inspect it properly in your own time. I have lots of images on the written reviews, close ups of the products and artwork which you can enlarge and see them in your own time. I hope this helps you and I am sorry if this is not what you meant.
@learnartwithme37662 жыл бұрын
@@TheArtGearGuide Nope, that's what I meant. I get that's why they don't do open stock, but when the sets are large, it's not worth your time either, nobody wants a stack of tins with loads of duplicates in.

Yeah that is right. It’s Just Castle have added these 24 sets to create kind of Bite size sets for a multitude of reasons. For example people new to Colored pencils or people who prefer just drawing Seascapes and would prefer a set of pencil catered to that area rather than buying all 120 pencils.
