“Minecraft ripoff” would be a stretch if it’s what you mean, but Murder Miners may be what you’re thinking of @PLK They also have an active community today, powered by the community’s modders and I hear the game has had a lot of support from them. I really wish CMZ would have had the chance to take the same route, but it seems like Tom took the money and ran for the greener fields of Tik Tok. :/

I really miss the days where you could just play games like this. Making new friends with total strangers through a thriving game chat era of gaming. Now games are so antisocial, so buggy and so sweaty or super competitive that gaming just isn't fun anymore for me. Sadly days like this are gone since gaming is more mainstream now. Hearing the soundtrack though brought me back to middle school and made me smile as a miserable adult
@prototype4642 жыл бұрын
That can depend on what game you play, mate! Sandbox games and the various source games (TF2 pretty much anywhere, CS:GO in community servers I think) still have large parts of the soul of what made gaming great back then. I agree with you though that by design many of the competitive games (and their communities) nowadays are just... saddening.

I come back to this often because not many games have soundtracks that you can really feel like CastleMiner Z does
@prototype46410 ай бұрын
I get a lot of comments on this video saying this kinda thing where CMZ's soundtrack is like this really special thing when it's literally just royalty free / licensed stock music. It doesn't really compare to ones from ULTRAKILL, Cyberpunk 2077, the Calamity mod for Terraria, Subnautica, Library of Ruina, and even Lethal Company. Don't get me wrong, CMZ's soundtrack isn't bad. It sets a tone for the game quite decently somehow, and yeah it's actually unique enough to be iconic, but to say "not many games have soundtracks you can really feel like CMZ's does" really does just feel like a rose-tinted nostalgic overgeneralization. Anyway, cheers! o7

me too. me too. obsessed with it. The change in tone from it being ominous and foreboding in the first half, then switching to hopeful and beautiful. It fits so well and holy shit im just now realizing this but, it's like the symbolism of climbing a mountain; It's painstaking and horrible at first, terrifying and exhausting climbing up the spires, trudging and lumbering along. Then, once you reach the peak, and you can see the beautiful payoff and surrounding mountain range, suddenly, you can't imagine yourself not having climbed it. The feeling of that song beginning to play as you enter the mountain biome and scale a mountain is unmatched. I also love the little sound effect that is the fist thing you hear in the song and is the last thing you hear, it's like letting you know the song is starting/over

Venturing down to the hell biome by yourself can be nerve-racking as a kid.
