how the running water thing works is that running water is a cleansing force, so an impure creature like a vampire supposedly can't touch it, because it'll wash their impurity away and kill them. they can cross using a bridge or vehicle, like a boat or a carriage, but they couldn't swim across, and jumping across is physically difficult for them, since being over the water drains them a little. dracula is able to make the trip from transylvania to england in the book using a ship, though he does so in wolf form and with a coffin filled with the dirt of his homeland (another forgotten vampire rule), so his strength isn't drained too much by the voyage.

That entire conversation Dracula had with Carmilla was a test of his patience to not outright slaughter her. I was laughing because she tries to play innocent but Dracula’s tone said it all he knows to never trust a word that manipulative she-devil says.

*💯% agree* this a fantastic series, the animation style really does a good job of setting the mood for the story it's trying to tell - as for this episode in particular, it was interesting to hear the regret in alucard's voice thinking about the man his father could've been had Lisa not been killed plus we saw a little bit more of Isaac's tragic backstory explaining what's motivating him to swear loyalty to Dracula's war on humanity as a human himself... the ending was funny to me seeing all the general's, even carmilla get so shook at the mention of the Belmont name and the fact that someone with access to that family line's vast knowledge of ways to hunt and kill vampires was working with Alucard against his own father's cause

Countess Elizabeth Báthory de Ecsed was the woman who killed 600 or so peasants and bathed in their blood. They were all young women. Carmilla is a Gothic novella by Irish author Joseph Sheridan Le Fanu and the Carmilla Báthory character is based on the real Countess Elizabeth Báthory.

I think Trevor is on equal ground with the rest. He doesn't have super human powers but he has super human skills which allow him to kill enemies in creative and convenient ways. I mean he's basically a medieval ninja.

exactly, the fact that Trevor Belmont has *no special enhancements* at all but was still *more than a match for Alucard and saved Sypha's life* last season shows the type of badass he really is not to mention they're both counting on him and his family's knowledge to figure out how to take on Dracula's armies cuz even with *vampiric agility and magic* on their side, at this point they still don't stand a chance...

Rick was thinking Slogra and Gaibon. They were bosses in Super Castlevania IV, part of a three boss rush before Dracula. They're also the first bosses of Symphony of the Night. They later got relegated to standard enemies in the Inverted Castle. Also, their appearance is taken from Curse of Darkness.

The way I've viewed Hector and Issac's power is as if they were actual forge masters. They take the evil out of someone and mold it, shape it until that person is a night creature. An evil spirit captured in a hellish skin. The reason Hector's pets aren't evil is because they have no capacity for it. They are neither evil nor good. They simply are.

The charakter of Carmilla is inspired by a Novel called "Carmilla" by Sheridan Le Fanus from 1872. This later inspired Bram Stoker to write his own Vampire novel, and if you know both storys you can see the parallels.

i think it's closer to a debate on how fucked and weird the rules for vampires that stoker created are. did you know that dracula in the original novel doesn't die under sunlight, he just de-ages and loses his powers? he goes from a silver fox old man to a 20-something with black hair. the whole point is "well, what counts as 'crossing running water' exactly? vampires can use boats and clean themselves, so when is water no longer 'running'?"
