Y'all i know that scorpions are animals but they're not like....animal animals? Like when folks are talking about "animals they're afraid of", folks are usually not talking about bugs. They usually refer to bugs as bugs, and other animals as animals. That's why i said "scorpions aren't animals". Please stop telling me things i already know.
@Plexippuspetersi92 Жыл бұрын
You obviously do not know. What's the point of watching content about animals if you're going to just shrug when corrected? Why bother going through the motions of educating yourself on these matters when you hide behind the conventions of common language? Classifying living creatures properly is no great burden.
@SkittenSays Жыл бұрын
@@Plexippuspetersi92it's really not that deep lol. Not everyone wants to be unnecessarily pedantic 24/7. If I ask you your favorite animal and you tell me an insect (or arachnid or whatever) I'm going to tell you that doesn't count. Am I aware that it technically counts?? Sure. But that's not what I'm asking, and that's not the answer I'm seeking. The conventions of language are such for a reason. Being upset that I acknowledge them is both foolish and futile. Have a nice day.

@nmheath03 some people have this wierd disassociation when it comes to fish and bug. It's like they see animals as only cute and cuddly things or the things they have to accept as animals because they're obviously connected to the ones they like. But bugs and fish are disconnected from both them and our daily lives so they are often pushed away to a place where mentally they aren't animals. Everyone likes some animal but no one likes insects so they must not be animals. Or I live in the middle of the city and never see wild fish so the concept of fish as an animal is so foreign that they must not be animals. They must be their own thing: fish

I've been around pigeons my whole life with both my dad and all three uncles being fanciers and I never could get why they get so much hate. Like, I get not liking them bc they poop over your stuff, but other than that they're perfectly harmless and really incredible animals. Pigeons are really good pets- they're affectionate, intelligent and clean. You can potty train pet pigeons, they love to cuddle and they can do tricks. There are also so many breeds of domestic pigeons and there are some absolutely beautiful ones like Lucerne Pigeons, Ice Pigeons, Fairy Pigeons.

7:43 Using the sound generators to deal with the birds is a bad idea, because many neurodivergent people can actually hear those frequencies (and those emitted by similar noise generators) even though others typically can't, and it is ear-piercingly painful. Several Autistic groups are trying to have "invisible noise" machines banned because of the distress they can cause many disabled people.

That whole pigeon story at the end was like me and the wifi at home. It would constantly break, like literally I could set up a timer for regular intervals to signify when it would break. It made playing online video games a nightmare, and I would tell my dad. "Hey, the internet keeps breaking down all the time". And he would be like "seems fine to me". And for years he kept on ignoring my complaints just telling me to reset the router when it broke, which was many times a day. Eventually, he had to use the wifi for longer periods of time and then he was like "wtf, the wifi keeps breaking down? I need to get to the bottom of this" and I'm like "oh wow, the problem I've been telling you about is actually true?". Like, this is one of those moments where "why would I lie" is actually not a gaslight. But yeah, my dad has always been the type to not understand that there is a problem unless he has personally experienced the same problem. Which is so frustrating. Even though he's somewhat moved from that way of thinking, you say a single problem like "hey, the printer is having some weird glitches" and he repeats it with a question mark at the end. And it's like "yeah, the information I've given you is accurate, I don't know how to clarify my message to you any clearer than what I already said". He's... A very frustrating man to say the least.

Actually that last part is not a necessary trait to add. Many lizard species reproduce asexually, such as the aptly named Lesbian lizard, and the mourning gecko. The geckos are true asexuals and don't require a partner, and while Lesbian do not have males in their species, they require sexual stimulation from another to beginning the egg laying process.

Hey ya, no to the owls and no to sound frequency here’s why: price, those are the expensive options and even pigeons will learn the owl is fake and not care about it (you also have to move the owl after you install it theoretically every few days or every few hours…) A better option is something like pigeon spikes to stop roosting altho the ethics on that some people disagree on - or you instal a cheap ass diy. A good bet is some string and something like a $5 pack of tinfoil trays like pie sheets. You poke the string through the sheet and hang it out near their spot. Pigeons don’t like reflective lights or how metal causes flashes at them they also easily startle at noise while bells ring loudly - a soft thud of cheap tin on tin like some cans or some trays is a bit deeper sounding makes them think it’s like a larger animal. This works best if there’s a little wind and the sound can occur randomly throughout the day - once it’s set up for like 5$ it should work anytime there’s wind or when they fly too close causing an air current then the sound… it’s also pretty harmless easy to set up even with what’s around/nails/command strips or smt and you won’t have to mess with it after it’s set up. Altho like a windchime with like a reflective metal spiral thing might be a similar deterrent ACTUALLY IN NY there was a varriety of people with nets that would catch wild pidgeons often times they’d be added to collections or something but there was also an issue of people stealing them from my streets then putting them in an enclosure or cage then selling them as higher quality pigeons - sometimes to restaurants which are higher class. Pigeon is a French dish that’s as popular duck in some places the reason is Cornish hens are small but pigeons are even smaller it’s a rarer meat and it would originally be hunted in Forrest’s eating seeds nuts berrys and quality wild food so like it’s better then what they’d feed the duck. Their memorization is due to pattern recognition: monotony means they have to see their 1 spouse in a crowd of a few hundred to thousand. Not only that but wild pigeons would need to not only memorize flying routes and landmarks but also memorize what looks like food and can be eaten - for more wild varieties that do live on mountainous rocks they have a variety of plant species or insects to memorize. So pattern speaking or recognition is by fair their most essential feature: their flying is perfect for high speeds around trees/buildings/open spaces/bridges etc and their natural predators are always hawks they’re bigger then the smallest falcons but larger hawks have a larger size then them so their speeds at diving down and falling then quickly boosting off into a random direction of an escape route they have memorized. Of which a hawk may not be able to maneuver a turn or do. They are really good birds in terms of how they think and how their body functions/look. Their nostril covers are mostly because of their feces because it flakes and babies are close to the ground theybhave larger coverings as they as y.a. They are still short or have to eat a lot on the ground possibly near debris, as they get older their age requires more oxygen meaning they have to take in more air to have the energy to fly around so the covering has to disappear or it can cause breathing issues where it grows to a point they can’t breathe.
