I have that exact same laser Xtool D1 for over a month now. It's a great machine. Like you said it does compatible with lightburn. I've been engraving tumblers, and made quite a few Christmas ornaments. It's just for my hobby. Everything I made are for gifts and for fun.

Can you get the XTOOL D1 with Lightburn and does this laser work with Windows 11? And do you really recommend this laser? If so, I am ready to buy.

I have 9 lasers. Started in 2013. Diode is for stay at homes.

Please forgive this naive question…Can this unit do good volume? Or does the “laser” wear out/run out?

@@OhioJimbo Yes to both questions. The diode laser will last for around 10,000 hours, then it needs to be replaced for around $400 (10 watt laser). Also, the more you use the laser at 100% power the more it will shorten its 10,000 hour life-span. I hope this helps answer your very good questions.🙂

Light burn is now supporting this machine. The software is far more powerful but 60 bucks. I love my D1. Been trying to figure out a cable chain on the side for that cable running to the laser. Thanks for the video.

Thanks for watching Curtis! I'll have to give Lightburn a try. Wish there was a web-based software for the laser. My laptop in the shop is soooooo old and I like to use my desktop to design the files and only have to open it up the webpage when I'm down in the shop.

@@CasualBuilds there is a software for your desktop and cellphone calls "Remote Desktop" with this software you can have access to your computer from anywhere just you need internet with both.set up is pretty easy as well

I have never owned a laser. I have researched and researched. Just like you I was on the fence whether or not to start small or go all in. Well I recently decided and I went ALL IN on a Thunder Laser USA-Nova 35-100watt co2. It is the most expensive tool I have ever purchased so I am hoping I made the right choice.

Great review Tim. I have a CNC myself and I am finding I am doing a lot of intricate projects that would probably be better suited for a laser. I am going to start with Diode and I have it down to two brands with XTool being one. How is their customer service? Also, have you used air assist when you do cuts?

Great informative video. One safety item, not sure if it is in the laser documentation, do not laser PVC, Poly Vinyl Chloride fumes are poisonous. For your mugs, yetis etc.. if you get anodized aluminum material, they laser to pretty close to white, so a black anodized piece of metal will laser to white. The laser "bleaches" the color from the anodization process. Hope you enjoy the laser, I look forward to your review of the Light Burn software.

Is it better than the k40? Bc I’m really sick of my k40. Little support from OMtech and so many adjustments. I want it just to work. I can’t afford a glowforge so this looks like a less expensive option.

Thanks! No on cutting metals, yes on engraving glass, but you do need some extra stuff (haven't tried it yet)

Thank you for the review of the lazer. Was this the 5 or 10 Watt lazer? Iwant to make a US Flag cutting board and i am wondering if this lazer would cut out the stars, and then cut the stars out of Maple probably 1/4" thick? Is this lazer capable of doing this?

Hey man great review! I'm thinking about purchasing the D1 Pro. I was wondering, in the build you did where you made the magnetic beer opener you used your CNC machine to cut the deer logo into the walnut. Is that something that the X-Tool could do as well?

Oh yeah, for sure. The D1 cuts walnut really nice and it would probably be so much more precise with a laser.

Great question - I tried buying these dog tags from Amazon to engrave, but it didn't work. I'd check out the xTool's website and see if there are specific metals it works with.

Just got my XTOOL D1 the other day. Setup was so easy. I have become a KZbin XTOOL Video Junkie. Every video I've seen complains that thick old black cord getting in the way of the lazer because it runs underneath the railings. Duh!... Conncet cord to motherboard, run cord under side railing as normal, THEN run it OVER the side railing to the lazer! tie down like normal and problem solved! Air Assist(if you have it) run from the back of the entire unit.
