As they grow up INFP go from over emotional to absolutely rock solid. 40 years of knowing your emotions so well makes you actually hard to budge by external factors. An older INFP is surprisingly highly in control. Especially because INFP obsess over consequences, both external and unto themselves.

13:45 That's so me right now LOL I had a beautiful, old latin teacher who made us reflect and debate ideas from time to time. I hated speaking in public (sometimes she made us write them anonimously and I absolutely loved that) so, even if I had my opinions, I didn't actually express those to my classmates (only to my friend and sometimes to the teacher when I was alone with her). Once she said the importance of reflecting about feelings, values and just "phylosiphing" about life. And she actually said that even people who don't talk in the group -such as me-, they would at least *listen* to others' comments, which leads to reflecting privately if you agre or disagree in your head and so you still *participate* on those debates. It made me feel so powerful

Idealism is a curse of it all. That's what makes it or breaks it. Most often breaks it. Unless you found some magical source of some energy from parallel universe timelines that get you to finish what you started, then there's nothing else to ask for, otherwise it's a killer and an outstanding stacker of unfinished projects.

Howard Ackerman That may be due to the INFP’s love for people and helping them live their best lives. Those jobs in America mainly pay crappy wages. Also internalizing can become extremely difficult to overcome when you feel emotions so intensely. Without perceiving their faults and actively attempting to change them, it could lead to suicide. Which is just terribly sad 😞

Also me: This thing is so pretty and it's going to look so aesthetically pleasing on my desk... once I replace that mouse pad to match and probably get a mouse to match and probably change the keycaps too. Dang, what a fantastic and detailed breakdown of us INFPs. It explains a lot of my patterns. A couple things that hit me in my MBTI learning journey were: 1. You mentioned Ne not retaining anything because it's an extroverted function. I really love this way of explaining it. It means that we (INFPs) really should be journaling and noting those things down as much as possible, especially because we like to entertain those ideas and find satisfaction in the brainstorm itself. Another interesting thing we experience is: we will often get excited (Fi) at how many great ideas we come up with (Ne), so the ideas that cause us to feel the strongest emotion do get retained (Fi-Si). I can recall several times when my mind was going crazy; for some reason, those are among the most memorable times in my life, but my Si has a weak catalogue of what I thought about--I mostly remember the topic and my emotions towards it at the time, and that exercise was enough for me to feel confident in using Ne to help fish those ideas out from Si. 2. Our memories of past experiences related to current events that remind us of those, even if completely unrelated, is one of the most difficult parts of being an INFP, emotionally. It causes us to be wildly insecure for the weirdest, most unknown reasons unless we're careful to dissect the root (past) experiences that led us to feeling insecure. Even with this knowledge, I'm still identifying the most random things and learning how to manage those. Thank God for therapists to process those with and overcome with time. It's crazy how things can throw us off out of nowhere. Thanks for the great vid!!

Trying to explain to people that I genuinely am unable to make a snap decision & will often reverse any that I do make and that being told to just 'cheer up' actually is more likely to make me feel more upset or even irritated, is really difficult (made even worse by my difficulties in explaining things verbally for fear of judgement).

I've thought I was an INTP, then I thought ENTP, then I thought neither of those were right, so I thought maybe I was an INTJ and it was my Enneagram 6 that explained my apprehension (I'm far more likely a 4w5 while in a healthy state, and 6w5 is a part of my TriType); I blamed things not making sense on my Sensory-Processing Sensitivity - but that stopped making sense too. I ignored a lot of parts about me, and the way that childhood emotional neglect forced me to change my view on myself is highly likely the real culprit. I've always been seeking the truth of who I am, what my purpose is, how I can apply myself to a greater good, and yet I refused to accept the truths of myself that would enable me to take on all the strengths that are truly inherent to me. I still can't say I'm sure, because I'm afraid to be wrong again, but I feel strongly about the idea that I'm an INFP, especially considering my apparent cognitive function stacking. Seeing your conversation with INFP HD recently made me think I should give this a listen, and I'm glad I did. I really enjoyed how you put things into a perspective I could understand and fit easily into my frameworks. The constant struggle with my sense of identity, my rejection of all that is cliche (and yet an undeniable pull towards the cliches that felt right), this sense of not fitting in right or belonging, it all seems to point towards the struggles of the INFP. It's possible I'll learn more about myself and have to reconsider all this all over again, but nonetheless I want to say thank you for putting in the time and effort to share your knowledge on personality and how it's expressed. I don't seem like an INFP on the surface, usually, but it's very much how I experience the world. I don't want to keep saying more and dig myself into some logical fallacy, so I'll just say thank you again. This video was very helpful.

I did spend a copious amount of time creating the rooms in Sims to bring about a certain feeling and all the colours had to make sense to me... uh... but I wouldn't say I am a sensor...lol uh feeling not good enough to be a INFP again lol

Wiki: Numerology is any belief in the divine or mystical relationship between a number and one or more coinciding events.[2] It is also the study of the numerical value of the letters in words, names, and ideas. It is often associated with the paranormal, alongside astrology and similar divinatory arts.[3] Despite the long history of numerological ideas, the word "numerology" is not recorded in English before c. 1907.[4]

7:40 Sensory perception is weak? But I thought type had nothing to do with for example the 5 senses... I mean looking at the evidence, it seems true, but how does that then come about? Okay nvm literally right after this you explained, at least somewhat convicingly, it's the Ne. Lmao look at me overcompensating for my lack of Te right there.
@CasualCognition
@CasualCognition 5 жыл бұрын
It's a fair question. In my opinion, having the 5 senses isn't the same as cognitively paying attention to them. If you tell an INFP to look at the wallpaper, they'll notice that it's blue because they have sight (unless they're blind, which obviously any type can be), but if you don't tell them to look at it, they might not notice it since most of their cognitive attention isn't oriented towards external and sensory information.

Why I interpreted these shortenings as iron , nickel, selenium and titanium 🙄 though I know in the chemical symbols for these elements each i here is an e and vice versa. .. I guess if anyone asks me about my personality type I'm going to tell them it's a mix of iron, nickel, selenium and titanium 🤷🏾‍♀️ It's so amazing how this can be when trying to find out what's so unique about these four elements here are what we get: Fe iron: is the _Energetic Core_ because of its nuclear binding energy ⚛️ 💜 Ti titanium: is the _Light Strength_ because it's a very light element and yet one of the strongest and most durable ones 💓💯💪🏾 Se selenium: the _Shiny Light_ because of the amount of light shines on it and makes electricity flows through. It's name is driven from the Greek term for the moon Selene 🌕💡🔌 Ni nickel: the _Resistant Shield_ because of its great strength and resistance to heat, corrosion and oxidation that make it used to plate other metals to protect them 💖🛡️ Anyone relate themselves to these qualities? 😅

When Calypso stated in this video (around 5:01) that "Si's meticulous in retaining sensory events, objects and details...", is that why it's really difficult if you suffer with PTSD from past abuse? I am trying to find a way to learn why it is that I constantly have nightmares involving my narcissistic mother & sister always beating on me or putting me down... why I continue to _vividly_ remember and recall these past events decades later. (This is just assuming the online tests I take are correct in that I'm an INFP, but just generally asking while inserting a personal issue as a reference)

Especially in younger people, where you wouldn't expect their lower functions in the stack to be well-developed. By no means am I saying I'm doubtful of your method and the trends you've found, but I'm wondering how you handle the exceptions?

Thanks for the video! It was really interesting! Since I feel safe at this community I want a honest opinion and even insights If you guys want to share! Well, I'm in the middle of high school and I'm very confused. I barely managed to determine what field I want to pursue (humantites, especially psychologie or educator), but I'm in delimma since what I really love is art. I like painting and writing, I would also like to try out theater and music! I'm intrested in trying everything actually. That does not mean though that I've worked hard and I'm exceptionally good...I mean since now I've been prioritizing school, but since it concerns my future, I want to think thouroughfully about what I want to dedicate myself to. So, going to an art school is a dream for me. I want to get into it, meet new people, get better and enrich my artistic ideas. However I think that it will be mentally harmful because I'll never get to be good enough and I'll compare myself to others...especially to their ideas...Yes, you can call me a cowkward, I know I am. On the other hand if a pursue something else which I'm that passionate about, but I also like, I may rgret it, but feel safer in the end. (take into consideration that my parents are not in favour of the first option. So, they confuse me and make me overthink a lot). I don't know, I may sound dramatic...but I'm kinda stressed about this. Anyways, hope everyone has a nice day/night! take care❤

hm... I do paint and draw and have carved a stick before cause I felt I could do it and the idea of carving something seems cool and I wanted to try it... I have thought about carving before and in the past I tried to carve chalk... IDK if that would make me not a INFP though...

it was really based off of how I felt doing this. Are you saying INFP don't like doing things like painting, or drawing, or making stuff? I feel a bit confused.@ Casual Cognition

The voice over is really hard to hear. Moving closer to the mike and speaking more clearly might help.

Bit of advice: try to speak clearer. It's so hard to understand you at moments as a rather fluent non english speaker, I dunno about english natives.

Painful to listen to such horrible enunciation. Didn't even make it midway through.

Terrible to see you stumbling over such a shallow outward factor. Yet, sometimes it happens. Here's the good news, I'm sure you can be creative and turn off the audio to turn on subtitles (in the hope they're mostly accurate) or look around for another video that meets your specific personal audio(-visual) needs. ;) Please do not confuse your personal preferences with actual quality or lack of it. Plenty of us could appreciate this just fine.
