Wonder what the difference is between this and Metabo SV13YST…

A very fair first impression, I have a severe respiratory condition and hate the idea those bags!

Thank you. I was just surprised as how poorly this sander is designed. It's a shame really.

For dust extraction do what Peter millard does and use a piece of bicycle inner tube
@CasualDIY5 жыл бұрын
Yes that could be a good idea actually 👍
@krisbabb27565 жыл бұрын
Great review, would you be able use a piece of inner tube to fit over the odd shape on sander and connect to your dust hose. Not sure if it will work but worth a try. Hope that helps.

Yes I think Peter Millard done that in one of his videos. I might give it a go👍

I'm currently at 1:50. I have this machine with the same reference number from a few years back under Hitachi. And the first thing that annoyed me too was the stupid dust port. I complained bitterly to Hitachi and they send out some rubber tubing which does stretch over the port. I also found that Hitachi in The Netherlands had created a special oval to round boot; this worked fine for a while but kept falling off and has now fatigue cracks. I cannot conceive of Hitachi's / Hikoki's stupidity at allowing such a ridiculous port to enter construction, let alone rebrand and still maintain the original flawed design!
@CasualDIY5 жыл бұрын
It's just a very poor design that makes no sense for a sander that you should be able to connect to a shop vac.

This is a great video! I like reviews who are honest. This is one! I didn't like hitachi before and i still not like it after seeing this video. i'm more a makita fan, however my tablesaw isn't that good at all.

Hi and thanks. Never had Hitachi or Hikoki tools and my expectations were high to be honest. For what you pay it doesn't seem a good deal. It may out last other sanders I got but working with it could become a chore very quickly. But time will tell.

I have a non branded sander cost under £30 and it looks and sounds better than that one. Over priced big brand might be ok for the professional who might using them every day, but for the diy’ers among us the cheaper stuff is good enough. 👍🥃🏴
@CasualDIY5 жыл бұрын
Ok. So I thought the same with regards sanders. But after buying my third cheapo sander in space of 6 months and spending around £70 on them I decided that my 4th one will be branded. So I bought a Makita for £80 and it's fantastic, had it for over 2 years and never missed a beat. And it does give much better finish. But you are right about most of the branded tools they are just way over priced ( Festool ) and you can achieve similar effects with far cheaper tools.

You can buy a Hikoki adaptor (334502) for £3 from FFX. This seems to overcome your biggest gripe. This unit is now under £100. Not a good review considering you haven't really commented on the sanding quality.

Great video, shame about the sander I'll avoid that one , I bought a black &decker mouse sander just for some drawers I'm painting, £25 from BQ and the dust port fits my festool vac works brilliantly ,okay I know it's not an orbital sander but at least it fits my shop vac, there is a photo on my Instagram account ....I have a milwaulkee cordless orbital sander , it's a good sander but the dust port just about fits my shop vac keeps coming off , but the big bug bear, its blood heavy with that battery and like your sander you can't get a proper grip, to wide at the top ....😁😁😁😁👍👍👍👌👌

I had a try on a Mirka sanders at Makers Central and I have to say they are phenomenal, best sander I have ever worked with. But a prize tag of over £350 keeps me away from this tool. If woodworking was my main source of income I would invest in it but as it's just a hobby I'll wait for a sponsor 🤣

Wiem, stary film ale porównujesz Hikoki za +-400pln do Makity za 750pln. Troche to niesprawiedliwe bo to nie te same półki cenowe. Niemniej pokazuje jednak ze maszyna działa :)
@CasualDIY2 жыл бұрын
O to właśnie chodzi. Jaki sens porównywać Mercedesa do Mercedesa.

Oba to zrobią. Może Dacia będzie mniej komfortowa (choc tego nie odczuwam) to godzę sie na to bo w banku mi zostało 50tys. Jeden i drugi dowiezie mnie na miejsce. Podobnie z narzędziami.
@januszkaletta71872 жыл бұрын

Manufacturers just don't get it do they? by supplying a custom vacuum port, they're just pissing off 90% of the customers that aren't willing to buy into the whole ONE BRAND setup. Not to mention the fact that they're even different within the same brand from tool to tool. Stupid. just stupid. Marketing wank
@CasualDIY5 жыл бұрын
Yep I don't get it either. At least my Makita sander came with an adapter to a normal hose.
